We prepared a little surprise for the guests with two other vintages of LAN Culmen, the 2010 and 2017!

You might wonder what does the brand name LAN means, the three letters actually represents the initials of the three provinces that make up the D.O.Ca. Rioja:
Logrono (now La Rioja)
Alava
Navarra
The story of LAN begun since 1972, throughout the 45 years of evolvement, LAN has become one of Rioja's benchmark wineries, thanks to their pioneering spitir and the unwavering quest to stay faithful to their origins. The brands owns 72 hectars of land on the banks of Ebro river, the area is famous for its clavey and pebbly soils, also with old vines that are 40-60 years old with low yields. The winery chose to harvest manually and select grapes by hand, handling the largest quantity of grapes by hand in the region.

The winery owns a 6400m² state-of-the-art cask ageing facility with unique racking, stacking and temperature-control system. The winery also conducted continuous research on oak, developing a mixed barrel method, where American oak are used in the staves and French oak in the bottoms, aiming for the most flavors and complexity to the wines.

Giving our guests one of the best Spanish wine experiences with quality food and wine, not to mention that it is the first time the American Club has had an outdoor wine dinner, with this perfect weather, everyone had such a great night. What's not to love about that?

The highlight of the day!~
5. Henri Giraud Ratafia Champenois Solera 90-16

Ratafia Champenois Solera 90-16 is made of 70% Pinot Noir and 70% Chardonnay, matured in barrels according to the Solera method.

What is Solera method?
Solera is a process for aging liquids, it was introduced by the Spanish and Portuguese winemakers of Sherry and Port wines, it is an ancestral method for maturing and progressively blending different vintages. The juices acquire the characteristics of the oldest vintages, the old wine helps its younger sibling to age properly.

Henri Giraud's Ratafia Champenois Solera blended vintages from 1990, all the way to 2016, the 30-year-old Solera subtly blends the best of the musts of Champagne Henri Giraud. The older ones guide the younger ones for three years, then they are blended in casks for a 48-month maturation.

Fun fact: the bottle is a huge 4.5L bottle that requires a special tube to take out the wine, as shown on the last photo with Henri Giraud's Brand Ambassador - Mr Julien Morin demonstrating the 'extraction of history'.

Telford has collaborated with Gold Coast Yacht & Country Club for a Chilean Wine Dinner on the passed Monday 26th Sept , featuring the Chile wine brand Luis Felipe Edwards and five course meal.

The night started with Luis Felipe Edwards (LFE) Gran Reserva Sauvignon Blanc, paired with an Ahi tuna dish, followed by the Gran Reserva Chardonnay and Gran Reserva Carmenere, paired with a red shrimp Stuzzicarelli with squid ink sauce and sou-vide pork tenderloin respectively, all from the same LFE Family Selection.

Second last course was a braised Wagyu M5 beef short ribs paired with LFE 900 Single Vineyard and LFE Dona Bernardo, finishing the evening with a pavlova parfait.

In 1976, LUIS FELIPE EDWARDS Sr. purchased an quality agricultural estate in Colchagua Valley. He spent years planting more vineyards in his property nestled in the Andes foothills, perfecting his craft, and building a solid team, to release his first vintage at perfection - 1994 LFE Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is still drinking beautifully, a testament to the level of quality of LFE wines since day one. Today, we have grown to be the largest 100% family-owned and managed Chilean winery, exporting to 100+ countries worldwide.

The brand was awarded 'Best Chilean Wine Producer' in 2018 and 2021 by the Berliner Wein Trophy, it has gain its recognition throughout the years and have been awarded with numerous awards and titles, it is no doubt one of the best Chilean brands in the world.

Not to mention they are certified as 'Sustainable Wine Producer' by the Chile Wine Sustainable Wine Association and all their wines are vegan friendly. Not only do they produce amazing wine, they are also aware and took responsibility for a better environment.

We are honored to be invited to the Alsace Rocks tasting event held on past Thursday 22 Sept at Grand Hyatt Hotel.
The event has been such a success and fruitful experience, featuring Alsace soils and rocks, demonstrating the best of the northeaster French wine region.

Alsace is on the borders of Switzerland and Germany, located between the Vosges Mountains and Rhine River. The long strip of land is protected from westerly rains, making it the driest areas in France, such dry climate allow the grapes to mature slowly, retaining freshness and creating complex wines.

Unlike the other regions in France, Alsace labels by variety and place, with 53 appellations in the region: AOC Alsace, Cremant d'Alsace and 51 Grand Cru sites. So what is so special about the rocks in the area? Alsace is one of the most geologically diverse regions in the world, with 13 distinct soils from 8 mother rock types, allowing producers to match the main varieties to the best terroir, also creating unique combinations.

Henri Giraud PR 18-90 only at Telford!

Henri Giraud's champagne can trace back to as early as 1625. The brand has demonstrated years of excellency in Champagne making with its outstanding terroir of Aÿ and extraordinary epic of Champagne. This year, Henri Giraud has introduced a new line of champagne to the world – Champagne PR18-90.

Champagne PR18-90 is a blend of Henri Giraud's perpetual reserves, with the 'Aÿ Grand cru Fût de Chêne' from each vintage since 1990 and the other by the 'Esprit Nature'. A perpetual reserve is a wine blended in one steel vessel over multiple years' harvest, each year the cell master adds young wines to the perpetual reserve after first fermentation and draws off what is needed for non-vintage cuvees. The blend is basically the quintessence of the Champagne House throughout the years, which provides great depth and layers of complexity like no others.

PR18-90 has remarkably limited availability to the market, and we are again honored to have this rare and unique champagne – Limited to 240 bottles only.

Tasting Notes:
Mellow texture, fine and creamy bubbles with energetic and complex aromas of orange blossom, white flowers and baked fruits. Finishes with an impressive freshness and slight bitter minerality, combining youth and elegance of maturity.

We are very happy to have a fruitful tasting session with MyiCellar at their office on 15 June 2022 on the Spanish brand - LAN.

The brand started since 1972, the history is closely linked to the land from its origin. The name, LAN, represents the initials of the three provinces that make up the D.O.Ca. Rioja: Logroño (now La Rioja), Álava and Navarra. The brand evolved over the first 45 years to become one of Rioja’s benchmark wineries.
