On Sunday 20 September, Angela & Elizabeth from Petal & Twig are taking over the shop for an afternoon of flowers, wreath making and w**e.

They’ll guide you through creating your own autumn wreath to take home, using a beautiful mix of dried flowers, foliage and seasonal textures.

Once the wreaths are finished, there’s absolutely no need to rush off either. We’ll have British cheese and charcuterie, breads and a few other good things available to order. And of course, the w**e.

Your £55 ticket includes a glass on arrival, and we’ll have a special by the glass list of cosy autumn w**es pouring throughout the afternoon if you fancy exploring a little further.

Come for the wreath. Stay for the w**e.

Sunday 20 September, 2pm, £55 per person

I think it's about time to continue posting about w**es I love, and incidentally sell, right?

So, this time it's a Vidiano from KTIMA APOSTOLIDI in Greece. I feel like this grape is quietly becoming a rising star from that part of the world.

With the 2024 vintage completely gone now, the 2025 continues in a similar style, although it feels noticeably different. And that's exactly how it should be with vintages. Different year, different growing season, different w**e. I'd probably be more suspicious if it tasted exactly the same.

Still ripe but less honeyed, with ripe peach, sweet lemon, dry hay and wildflowers, and a lovely unctuous feel. There's a touch more brightness this time around though, leading into a more pronounced bittersweet pink grapefruit finish.

It's a generous style of white, but super clean and precise, especially considering it's organic and biodynamic, and fermented with native yeasts.

If this sounds like your kind of w**e, come and get yours. £25.

Truthfully,
Alex

Around 23 great w**es by the glass, British cheese and charcuterie, conservas, candles on and some good jazz playing. Perfect pairing for slow, rainy Saturdays.

Provence. Such a fantastic part of the world.

Lavender, fragrant air, the smell of warm pine, ripe figs, cacti, and the sound of cicadas. And then, of course, the w**es. Alluring, seductive, rich, ripe and generous. And there’s so much more to them than rosé.

This September, we’re taking a slower look at the other side of Provence. Five w**es, tasted together around our long tables, with plenty of time to talk, taste, eat and discover what makes this part of France so special.

These are guided tastings, but very much relaxed ones. No lectures, no right or wrong answers. Just good w**e, good food and good conversation, taken at the sort of pace Provence seems to understand rather well.

Five w**es, British cheese and charcuterie from The Crafty Cheeseman, and breads from Lagom Bakery.

Every Saturday in September, 3pm or 7pm.

I think it's about time to start posting about w**es I love, and incidentally sell, right?

So, I think I'll start with this utterly delicious Pinot Noir from Nanny Goat Vineyard in Central Otago, as it's one of my favourite Pinots lately (and I rarely do favourites).

2021, yet tastes as fresh as a newcomer, but obviously a lot wiser with time. Should I stash some cases away? Yes, sir... I'm hoping to taste this vintage again in 3,5, and maybe even 10 years' time.

It's ripe, intense and seductive, with a distinguished purity of fruit. Great acidity, which makes it sooo juicy, while a soft, ripe tannic grip gives it good backbone. So easy for one to indulge in pouring another glass.

Ripe sour cherry, bramble, damson preserve, and some very shy warm spices and floral notes. Underneath this generous ripeness, there's a very well hidden savouriness, wild herbs, maybe a touch of old leather... just maybe.

Long story short, it's a Pinot Noir that I think you need to taste! Come grab a bottle (£34) or enjoy it by the glass at our w**e & cheese bar nights.

Truthfully,
Alex
