🍷 Sorrenberg Chardonnay! 🍷

Sorrenberg has earned a devoted following for producing some of Beechworth’s most distinctive and characterful w**es. Barry and Jan Morey have built a reputation around careful vineyard work and a thoughtful, hands-off approach to w**emaking, creating w**es that balance generosity of flavour with texture, freshness and remarkable individuality. Their Chardonnay is a particularly compelling expression of the region, combining traditional techniques with a clear sense of place.

The 2025 vintage at Sorrenberg followed a winter with below-average rainfall, with a couple of spring frost events causing no damage. Rain arrived after flowering, followed by generally dry conditions through summer and ripening, with cooler periods helping maintain balance. A final significant rainfall event arrived towards the end of February, but overall disease pressure remained very low and ripening conditions were favourable. The resulting fruit was flavoursome, with good yields across the varieties.

The 2025 Chardonnay is a beautifully textured and expressive w**e, showing a lifted bouquet of white peach and nectarine, with a subtle hint of citrus. The palate builds on these ripe fruit characters, bringing together rounded texture, vibrant acidity and a fine mineral character. French oak is seamlessly integrated, adding complexity and depth while allowing the fruit to remain at the forefront. The finish is long and persistent, with a balance of richness, freshness and structure.

Sorrenberg continues to produce w**es that stand apart for their individuality and attention to detail. The 2025 Chardonnay is an excellent example, combining expressive fruit, thoughtful w**emaking and the balance that makes Beechworth such an exciting region for premium Chardonnay.

Sorrenberg is produced in small quantities and their w**es are always highly sought after. We have only a limited amount of the 2025 Chardonnay available, so we recommend securing a bottle early to avoid missing out.

🍷 2024 Pooley Syrah! 🍷

From Tasmania’s Coal River Valley, this remarkable cool-climate Syrah has achieved an extraordinary result at the 2026 Sydney Royal W**e Show, taking home three of the show’s most prestigious trophies.

The 2024 Pooley Syrah was awarded Best W**e of Show, Best Red W**e and Best Shiraz at the 2026 Sydney Royal W**e Show, competing against more than 1,500 w**es from across Australia.

It is a remarkable result, and particularly significant as the w**e became the first Tasmanian Shiraz to win both the Best Shiraz and Best Red W**e trophies at Sydney Royal.

The w**e had previously won Best Shiraz at the 2025 Royal Hobart W**e Show, further establishing the 2024 vintage as a standout for Pooley and highlighting the growing reputation of Tasmanian Shiraz on the national stage.

From the cool Coal River Valley climate, the w**e displays dark berry and cherry fruit alongside violet florals, white pepper and savoury complexity. The palate is finely structured, with fresh acidity and elegant tannins providing balance, length and definition. Rather than relying on sheer weight or power, it shows the freshness, detail and savoury character that makes cool-climate Tasmanian Syrah so compelling.

For Pooley, the result represents decades of belief in the potential of Shiraz in Tasmania. The variety was planted at their Cooinda Vale Vineyard in the early 2000s, and the 2024 Estate Syrah is a remarkable culmination of that long-term commitment.

🍷 Lake's Folly Hill Block Release! 🍷

Lake’s Folly needs little introduction. Established by Dr Max Lake in 1963, it was the first new vineyard planted in the Hunter Valley last century and has become one of Australia’s most iconic small w**e estates. Today, the Fogarty family and w**emaker Rodney Kempe continue the tradition of producing w**es that are distinctive, age-worthy and unmistakably Hunter Valley.

The Hill Block is one of the most distinctive sites within the Lake’s Folly vineyard, with heavy red soils over a layer of limestone. The site produces w**es with greater richness and depth while retaining the freshness and structure that have long been hallmarks of Lake’s Folly. The Hill Block Chardonnay was first produced in 2011, and has since become one of the estate’s most sought-after w**es.

2025 Lake’s Folly Hill Block Chardonnay
