Hey fam!

We’ll have slightly different opening hours for the next two weeks (starting from the 26th), as some of us (✋)head off to visit winemakers and chase the sun around Europe.

During this time, same-day local delivery will be paused. Deliveries through will continue as usual though, and are generally next-day.

The shelves are fully stocked with new arrivals and old favourites, All set for a big weekend ahead x

It’s not exactly news when a wine from Manon blows us away, but this might be one of the most beautiful expressions of Pinot Noir we’ve had - not just from Mon and Tim, but in general.

We’ve been buying and drinking their wines for years, and this one feels so pure, lifted, structured and effortless all at once.

Last days of sunshine.

Looking back on all the good times we’ve had over the warmer months, thank you all so much for the support this year so far x

As we slowly head towards winter, the shop is turning into a cosy little escape from the cold. Lots of new arrivals and a few exciting announcements coming over the next month.

The good news: there’s a new release, and Alex will be here pouring the wines himself on Tuesday May 12th from 5pm.

Our good friend Jean (Baptiste) Bouteille is back at the shop!

He’ll be taking over the by the glass list, with his new releases, while we run the first trial of our new menu, which will include a few simple, comforting warm dishes.

We’ve been working towards offering more dine-in options, and this is the start. Very excited about it.

One of our favourite releases every year just landed!

Château de Béru has been in the family for over 400 years. After phylloxera wiped out the vineyards, the estate was brought back to life in the late ’80s, before Athénaïs de Béru took over in 2004 and fully converted it to biodynamics.

Working on classic Kimmeridgian soils, everything is done by hand, with gentle, low-intervention winemaking, long élevage, little to no sulphur, no fining or filtration.

The result is pure, mineral Chablis with incredible energy and a real sense of place.

Very happy to have these back in the shop 💙🤎

Seasonal Foods, Special Wines.

We’re very excited to have Matt Reade taking over our little kitchen for the full weekend. Matt is the former chef of Melbourne favourite Embla, before heading to London where he was part of the opening team at Brat, and later joined our friend James Kelly (Harriot) at Lyle’s.

The menu will be simple and seasonal, built around what’s looking best right now.

We’ll have a full cellar list, plus plenty of very nice wines by the glass.

It’s all happening over the weekend of 10.04–12.04.
Friday dinner, Saturday all day, and Sunday lunch.

Groups of 3 or more, please DM us to book - otherwise, just walk in.

For the next pop-up we’re heading to Mexico🇲🇽

ODA is the project of chef Miguel Ángel and Declan Yardley. Miguel, originally from Mexico, began his career in 2011 and has worked in some of the best restaurants in the region, including Michelin-starred D.O.M. in Brazil and Pujol in Mexico, the latter shaping his approach to Mexican cuisine and tradition. During his time at Sleepy’s Cafe & Bar he met Declan, who later joined him on the project. They are now both cooking and pouring in one of our favourite venue’s in Melbourne .

Expect a deeper, more authentic expression of Mexican cooking, with a strong focus on process, time and ingredient integrity, with the menu leaning heavily towards seafood (veg options available).

As always, we’ll have plenty of delicious things to drink, including some special bottles from our cellar and mezcal to match.

Already drooling.

Yann Durieux “Love & Pif” 2021. What a masterpiece of Aligoté.

It’s everything we love about this lesser known Burgundian variety. Fresh, zesty and full of unique energy, all at just 10.5% alcohol. Only 2 bottles left in the shop and online, so be quick!

March is shaping up to be our biggest month of the year, with two pop-ups (save the date 29/03), new arrivals and plenty more to come.

This one feels special.

Three years ago we took over a little shop in Westgarth. Two years ago we turned it into a bar. Since then it’s been long days, big lessons, constant changes, and a whole lot of fun!

So to celebrate, we’re doing it properly.

is back (finally!) and will be cooking in the courtyard. who’s been such an important mentor to us over the years, will be on drinks, opening some very special bottles from her cellar and ours.

It’s all happening on March 15.

Highly recommend taking the Monday off work 😉
