AGAIN, SHEPOLOPOLO INDIVIDUAL PLAYER BRILLIANCE QUALIFIES ZAMBIA TO THE OLYMPICS
Zambia women’s soccer team (Shepolopolo) did almost the impossible, beating Morocco at their own turf 2-0 to book a place at the 2024 Paris Olympics slated for July.
The Shepolopolo went into the match trailing 2-1 after losing the earlier encounter to the Atlas Lionesses but managed to turn the chips by denying Morocco a maiden appearance to the Olympics. Zambia meanwhile is appearing for the second time consecutively.
Now here lies broth, Zambia is grouped with USA, Australia and Germany, teams held in high esteem in women world football. If Zambia is expected to achieve anything the approach currently being employed by the team should change, there’s no way every time a squad continually relies on Barbara Banda or Rachael Kundananji to rescue the team. What if both players sustain injuries at the same time?
The squad comprises a crop of high quality players but the problem lies in our technical tactical approach or simply put we lack a system, players simply use their own skills to drill out results, no wonder we fail to perform at the highest level because then we face teams who function according to a well-planned tactical formulation meant to churn out best results.
Shepolopolo technical team lacks a systematic game plan thereby forcing the girls to play whimsically meaning that when things heat up they start to kick the ball, when a player receives the ball she just kicks it. Remember Mulenga and Jelita during our primary school days? It would read something like JELITA IS KICKING THE BALL.
When all this is happening the coaching staff will be seen comfortably seated watching the game as if that’s what they are hired for, to watch the games.
Now that we have qualified to the Olympics, are we sure that we shall perform accordingly (winning) with our current coaching staff? I know some people will say they have qualified the team to the Olympics, nonetheless we should be past feeling compassion by demanding excellence from them. Well if FAZ decides that they stay on with the team then devise a mechanism of bringing in high caliber experts to help them drive the team in the right direction.
Remember that most of these first team players are playing in advanced professional leagues, coached by highly qualified coaches, it becomes a disservice for them to come back home and be given instructions they know will not work. It’s like telling Messi or Ronaldo to be coached by coaches who discovered them some 25years ago, coaches who were teaching them how to trap balls and so on.
If we want to start winning trophies, the time to act on the technical aspect of the game is now otherwise we shall always continue to qualify to major tournaments only to board the first planes back home (mere seat fillers).
We have 2 months to put our house in order before the Olympics and we all know that many professional coaches are relishing the opportunity to coach the Shepolopolo a squad full of talent being wasted by OUR COACHES.

We have always said that (Copper Queens) Shepolopolo boasts of one of the best female football squads on the continent, talk of talent, dedication and as well as experience.
If you don’t believe me let me just name just five attacking players then you may wish to compare them with other teams player for player.
Obviously I will start with two gems of African women football, Rachel Kundananji and Babara Banda then Rachel Nachula, Grace Chanda and Mupopo.
To have two or three of these gamers in a squad is what many coaches would kill for and yet you find some people have all five at their disposal and still fail to vanquish opponents. Time and again Spooky Scoops and many other scribes have continuously complained and highlighted the need for FAZ to engage coaches with a knack to win awards and competitions not merely to take part as it is presently.
We do not hate the current technical squad but football is not just a participatory sport since money and I mean a huge amount of dough is involved in form of both expenses and earnings, instead they are the ones who are hurting us by subjecting the soccer fraternity to stale unacceptable showings.
Already our chances of qualifying to the Olympics are now heavily dimmed especially that now Morocco will be playing at home cheered on by thousands of crazy noisy fans, do not forget how they deliberately delay the game by feigning injuries even when the game is barren. Just imagine how they will be playing knowing they carry a win?
I still hear those words spoken by Ghanaian women’s national team coach in regard to the Shepolopolo where she said they are a highly talented but lack direction and which direction? Direction from their coaches.
If it was up to me and many other interested parties, I would cast my net and fish somewhere maybe even start with the first person who said they lack tactical direction.
Always the Shepolopolo plays good no they play better football but are left to do everything on their own even when input is needed from the technical bench.
Bruce mwape and his team CANNOT WIN US TROPHIES with such under par tactics. We need coaches who are winners. Other coaches would even assemble two squads out of our current ensemble and yet Ba Bruce can’t perform to expectation.

People are wondering what's happening with ZESCO's powercuts. Take for instance in Matero, residents living between Salima rd and industrial area have always been subjected to the same schedule, always going without power from 18:00hrs through to 03:00hrs since the power cuts started.
Can ZESCO please clarify on this and i believe its not in Matero where this is happening.
