We're less than forty-eight hours from Fathers' Day and let's have a moment of honesty! While dads appreciate the thought of gifts on this day, ties are not at the top of their list of desired gifts. Tools usually aren't either! Come out to the shop today or tomorrow and see what he REALLY wants! The options are numerous! Bourbon, Wine, Tequila, Wine, Rum, and then there is Wine! So stop out and pick up something that Dad will REALLY appreciate!

And if you do it tomorrow, Linda will have bottles of wine open to sample ... it's a win-win situation!

Last week we brought up a way of safely chilling your wine. This brought up a good question - what red wines can you serve chilled with no negative impact on flavor? The list of things to avoid include tannins and high alcohol. So this means going with Pinot Noir or Merlot or even Grenache. You can also have great success with Cabernet Franc or Italy's Dolcetto or France's Beaujolais. Put the wine in the fridge to chill and then take it out about thirty minutes before serving it and you'll be good-to-go. Just remember that the guideline of serving reds at room temperature evolved centuries ago when wines were kept in cellars with thick walls and very cool temperatures!

Today is the ( ), an annual public holiday in La Rioja, marking the anniversary of when the autonomous community of La Rioja's statute was approved in 1982. Now, this is more of a political/historical celebration than a celebration of wine, but we figure it would be churlish to not celebrate with them, so be sure to stop by the shop to by the shop today to pick up one of their lovely libations in celebration!

Why limit yourself when pairing wines!?!? Frying up some ? Open a slightly sweet from France's for an awesome pairing ... the sweet-and-salty duel on your palate will be awesome!
