The Magic of MBNA ✨
Back in 1986 when FranksWine first opened its doors, MBNA had only been around for four short years… but it was already building something extraordinary.
We were so fortunate to ride that wave of energy, innovation, and tight-knit community that MBNA embodied. Over the next 20 years, we had the honor of serving thousands of MBNA associates—from the tireless mailroom staff to top executives—many of whom became not just customers, but friends.
Thanks to the amazing Rita Euler, we were entrusted with providing the beer, wine, and spirits for countless MBNA events. Every corn boil. Every department celebration. Every executive meeting—whether it was at the Bracebridge facility, the iconic Wilmington offices, or even at Charles Cawley’s home in Wawaset Park. We still remember the very specific instruction that came with every event order: “Make sure there’s plenty of Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio!” It was Charlie’s favorite—and it became a staple at every gathering.
Watching this video (📽️), it brings back a flood of memories—faces, voices, laughter, loyalty, and pride. The culture of MBNA wasn’t just about business. It was about people who truly cared about each other, a workplace that felt like a family, and a community that supported local businesses like ours.
The MBNA era shaped so much of Wilmington’s history—and shaped FranksWine too. We saw careers bloom, lifelong friendships form, and yes, a whole lot of Pinot Grigio poured!
To all of you who were a part of that magic—thank you. Whether you’ve moved on, retired, or are still in touch with your MBNA crew, know that you were part of something special. And we were lucky to be a small part of it too.
Here’s to the legacy of MBNA… and to all the unforgettable memories that came with it. 💚🍷
If you were there—drop a memory in the comments. We’d love to reminisce with you.
