Asking for help is not easy but as the world moves forward, Altadena continues to grapple with the reality that the town we all live in is forever changed. There are few people in our lives who are as meaningful to us as Ariel. You’ve probably met Ariel and experienced her cheerful disposition at Altadena Beverage or had her sell you an incredible wine or sake, but what most people don’t know is that Ariel makes Altadena Beverage run. She is our behind the scenes everything. Making sure the newsletter is written, invoices are paid, demos are scheduled, and products are stocked.

Ariel made the choice last year with her boyfriend Mackin to make Altadena their home. And like many of us, they don’t know when they can return to their chosen home. None of us know what the next hours, days, weeks, etc. will look like and we all need support in various forms.

Please contribute to help Ariel and Mackin so they may continue to build their lives.

Ps Mackin is also our son’s music teacher and is so kind and supportive and talented and you couldn’t meet a better guy. We love you both!

The Boos family are part of Altadena Beverage. If you have ever had a weekend sandwich and loved it, you can thank Austin Boos.

I have known Austin since middle school and coincidentally her husband Jeff was one of my first friends in college. We reconnected when my family moved to Altadena and began working together when abm opened its doors. She is the most generous, thoughtful, encouraging, funny woman i know. And shes talented af.

Their family has lost their home. Not just any home, this was Austin’s childhood home that she and Jeff purchased and began remodeling 3 years ago. They moved back into their home 3 weeks ago. And everything is gone. Austin parents and sister have also lost their houses in the fires. It’s too much.

We also have a highlight reel of other altadena families and customers and pop up vendors who need support. I have dozens of requests in DM to post more and I promise to keep going. The sheer amount of people in need is staggering. Anything you can do to help. Stay safe.

We are extremely fortunate that Altadena Beverage was not damaged in the fires. Although we are still standing we are heartbroken for our friends, neighbors, family, customers, school friends, and town that have lost so much. Seeing the scale and breadth of the damage and knowing how much is gone- memories, lives, futures- is overwhelming.

Thank you for all the kind messages and checking in on us. We are safe and our staff are safe. Right now we will remain closed until it is safe and permissible to reopen. In the next few days we’ll post links and resources to help our community members including go fund me links started for our customers and vendors. Anything you can contribute is greatly appreciated.

We are sending so much love to you all who have lost your homes, schools, and businesses. Altadena isnt the incredible place it is without all the incredible people who call it home.

For 75 years Altadena Beverage has always been for the community and we will continue to be. Hug your loved ones, stay safe, and we’ll see you soon.
