Chateau Le Giron Bordeaux Blanc 2023

The Right Bank is famous for their bold Cabernets. The Left Bank, their silky Merlots. Entre-Deux-Mers, “between two seas,” is centrally located in Bordeaux between two rivers (Dordogne and Gironde… not exactly two seas, but you get the idea). They are known for their dry white wines, like our Thirsty Thursday this week. Chateau Le Giron’s Bordeaux Blanc features all three of Entre-Deux-Mers’ common white varietals. It is 40% Sauvignon Blanc, 40% Semillon, and 20% Muscadelle. The Sauvignon Blanc brings bright acidity and notes of lemon and fresh herbs. Semillon softens and gives some weight to the Sauv Blanc and adds peach notes. Finally, the small amount of Muscadelle provides white floral aromatics and hints of grapefruit. The resulting wine is medium-bodied, refreshing, and perfect for the warmer months!

Paso Robles' Union Sacre makes this super fun chillable red that has become our go-to! This is the perfect wine for the red wine lover that wants to lighten things up for the summer, or the rose lover who wants to try something just a little different. It is 100% Sangiovese made using carbonic maceration. That is a neat winemaking method that involves fermenting the small amount of sugar within the grape before the fruit gets crushed! The resultant wine is light and juicy, almost reminiscent of cherry candy (although this wine is completely dry) that makes it so easy to drink! The flavor profile on ‘Sangio’ also features notes of pomegranate, strawberry, yuzu, and a hint of rose and black pepper.
