September is National Su***de Prevention Month

Personally, this month means something to me.

There have been times in my own life when I have struggled more than the people around me probably realized. Like many people, I have experienced moments when life felt incredibly heavy, and I know how easy it can be to smile, go to work, take care of everyone else, and still be struggling on the inside.

I share this not because I have all the answers, but because I believe we need to make it okay to talk about the difficult parts of life, too.

One of the things I have learned is that asking for help is a sign of strength. Sometimes we need someone to listen. Sometimes we need professional support. And sometimes we simply need to know that someone cares enough to ask, “Are you okay?” Su***de prevention starts with connection. Checking in on a friend, listening without judgment, offering support, or simply reminding someone that they matter can make a meaningful difference.

So this month, check on your people. Yes, even the strong ones. Listen without judgment. Be kind when you don't know someone's whole story. And if you're the person struggling, please reach out.

You matter, and there are people who want to help.

At the Liberty Center of Sandusky County, we believe that everyone deserves to feel heard, supported, and valued.

This month and every month let’s continue looking out for one another and building a community where asking for help is met with compassion and support.

You matter. Your story matters. Help is available.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis or having thoughts of su***de, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7

We were fortunate to be guests at the Fremont Lions Club meeting today.

Our awesome Domestic Violence Victims Advocate, Charlene Miller, spoke about understanding domestic violence, shared important facts and statistics, and discussed the resources and support available to those experiencing domestic violence.

We are grateful for opportunities like this to connect with members of our community, raise awareness, and help ensure that those who need support know they are not alone and that help is available.

If you or someone you know needs help with a domestic violence situation, please reach out to Charlene at (419) 332-8777 or email her directly at [email protected].

Thank you to the Fremont Lions Club for welcoming us and giving us the opportunity to share this important information with your members.

So appreciative of Journey Church for allowing us to come personally give thanks for their generosity.

The Liberty Center could not do what we do without support from great people and groups.

Journey is also having a shoe drive to benefit local youth. They are in need of smaller and larger size shoes. You can drop these off to the Liberty Center and we can get the shoes to them.

Thank you Journey Church Fremont !!

Journey Church Fremont heard a need and they showed up BIG time. Journey Church you are the definition of a servant’s heart.

We cannot survive without those who choose to give. In people’s most vulnerable times, knowing that someone cares means the world.

Thank you so much Journey Church Fremont !
