Starting out as Chateau Lagraviere in the 1700’s, the Malartic was added in 1850 to honor the family’s son Comte Anne-Joseph-Hippolyte Maures de Malartic, a French Navy Admiral. It was Awarded the Pessac Leognan’s Cru Classé classification in 1959, in 1997 it was purchased by the Bonnie Family, who spent close to $20M to completely renovate the estate and update the winery, all of which massively increased the quality of the wines. Produced from 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 8% cabernet Franc & 2% Petit Verdot, the wines are rich and full with soft tannins, complex and beautifully aromatic. Drinking wonderfully after 8 years but continue mature over 2 decades.
