On 31 July 1970, the Royal Navy poured its last tot of rum.

For three centuries, every sailor was owed his measure — unofficially from 1655, by order of the Crown from 1731. Strength was tested with gunpowder. If the powder still lit, the rum was proof.

Then the pipe fell silent. Men wore black armbands. Some held burials at sea for their final tot.

But the rum itself never left. It was sealed into stone flagons and forgotten in naval stores for forty years — the last British Royal Naval rum in existence, bottled exactly as it was issued.

56 years on, a small number remain.

A wh**ky from a distillery that no longer exists.

Matured for 25 years in first-fill American oak barrels, this rare Caperdonich delivers rich orchard fruits, honey, vanilla and gentle spice. The distillery was demolished in 2011, making every remaining bottle a piece of Scotch wh**ky history.

Meikle Tòir, meaning “big pursuit”, is The GlenAllachie Distillery’s bold journey into peated single malt wh**ky.

Crafted under the guidance of Billy Walker, Meikle Tòir uses mainland peat and long fermentation to create a sweeter, fruitier and more oak-driven style of smoke — rich, earthy and beautifully balanced.

Expect layers of sweet peat, dark chocolate, heather honey, roasted nuts, ginger spice and oak-smoked depth.
