Gibelè Terre Siciliane, 2023.
This is a recent addition to our shelves and has quickly become one of our favourite wines.
Gibelè is made from Zibibbo grapes, an ancient vine and part of the Muscat family. This is a drier wine than many examples of Muscat; the sweeter fruit flavours are nicely balanced with zesty citrus notes.
The nose is floral and fruity, full of honeysuckle and jasmine, green apple, and peach. There are tropical notes of melo and mango, with a pinch of Mediterranean
herbs.
The palate is fresh with light-medium body. Notes of grapefruit and lemon zest provide a counterpoint to the tropical fruit, especially when pairing the wine with food.
Shellfish or light fish dishes are the perfect accompaniment, along with sunshine and good conversation. I'll be enjoying it all summer long 😎
