Finishing this run with an American combination.

Michter’s US No1 Unblended American Wh***ey with the Rocky Patel A.L.R. Second Edition Robusto.

Caramel, vanilla and butterscotch from the Michter’s meet the A.L.R.’s cocoa, espresso, toasted nuts and darker earthy character.

Think coffee, chocolate, caramel and toasted oak.

Rich without becoming too heavy and a very nice way to finish the latest four.

This week’s is a little different.

Stauning KAOS Danish Wh**ky with the Château Diadem Splendor Robusto Extra.

KAOS combines malt, rye and smoked malt, bringing chocolate, caramel, toasted grain, spice and gentle smoke. The Splendor follows with cocoa, roasted nuts, cedar and warming spice.

There’s plenty going on, but neither dominates.

Chocolate, toasted nuts, sweet spice and a little smoke.

One we’re particularly pleased with.

Kilkerran 12 Year Old with the CigarKings Maduro Robusto.

Kilkerran brings that wonderful mix of creamy malt, citrus, gentle peat, pepper and butterscotch. Alongside it, the CigarKings adds roasted nuts, coffee, cocoa, earth and a little Maduro sweetness.

Neither overpowers the other, instead you get cream, nuts and sweetness gradually giving way to pepper, earth and smoke.

A very good combination.

THE PAIRING IS BACK.

We’re kicking things off with a big one.

Old Ballantruan 10 Year Old alongside the Oliva Serie V Belicoso.

Peat smoke and creamy malt meet coffee, dark chocolate, earth and spice. The Oliva has plenty of character to stand alongside the 50% Old Ballantruan, while the sweeter side of both keeps everything nicely balanced.

Smoky, rich and definitely not a shy pairing.
