This Sippin Saturday we celebrate the Solstice 🌞

2017 Quadrus is a full-bodied Touriga Nacional with some Tinta Roriz & Sousão added to the mix. From a hot vintage, this is a voluptuous red with ripe blackberry, dark cherry, anise & sweet to***co spice flavours generous & juicy on the palate.

2021 Trocard Franc La Rose expresses notes of cassis, blackberry & small notes of juicy small berries associated with fine touches of cherry, violets, spices as well as fine hints of pepper, tonka bean & very discreet hints of coffee. Tannins are well-buit. Great length.

"Situated on the western Oakville bench, the celebrated Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard has a gravelly loam soils with high mineral content derived from sedimentary deposits of the volcanic Mayacamas Mountains and the alluvial fan of the Napa River. The vineyard has low organic matter content and thorough drainage, which devigorates the vines and produces small berries that are ideal for wines with intense concentration. The site is warm and sunny throughout the day but cooled by late afternoon breezes, producing ripe Cabernet Sauvignon with lovely acidity. The blocks that make up our blend represent a diverse array of the Beckstoffer To Kalon terrior and clonal selection, creating a unique and extraordinary wine from this critically praised site." 🍷

When it rains we still pour 🫢 Fabulous French for Father's Day weekend 🍷

2020 Trocard Blanc on the nose, this wine reveals an aromatic richness dominated by floral notes such as acacia & hawthorn, complemented by the delicate scent of blackcurrant bud. On the palate, it offers a delicate roundness, combining finesse & freshness.

2021 Ponnelle Pinot Noir has aromas of cherry compote, Cola, Chanterelle mushrooms, white pepper & just a slightly jazzy/bright note of cranberry on the tail end. Medium intensity with nicely integrated acidity & fine tannins, the black cherry notes come through elements of earth, clove & allspice.

Domaine Raspail-Ay this Sippin Saturday ...

2021 Gigondas Rosé 🍇 with a luminous & deep pink colour, this wine reveals intense flavours of raspberry, wild strawberry & peach on the palate. The rosé finishes elegantly with a hint of white pepper & garrigue.

2019 Gigondas Rouge 🍷 a highly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe cherry, boysenberry, lavender, black tea & smoky minerals. On the palate it is energetic with red & blue fruit, floral pastille, exotic spice & succulent herb flavours that spread out slowly as the wine opens up. The floral & spice notes resonate on a long, focused finish framed by fine-grained, steadily building tannins.

It's a Barbi world for Sippin Saturday 🍷

2023 Orvieto Classico Abboccato has elegant & fragrant aromas of soft citrus & pear with a slight minerality to it, likely attributed to the marine soils. It has a harmonious taste, with a subtle off-dry sweetness & supple feel on the tongue. Ripe apples, juicy peach & a hint of spritzy acidity are nice balanced, leaving a nuance clean refreshing finish.

2021 Il Ruspo Sangiovese has a beguiling nose of strawberry, bing cherry & plums, this Sangiovese delights the palate with nitesnof dark cherries, tomato leaf, peppercorn & dried herbs.

Sippin Saturday spotlight on Domaine Guy Amiot 🍇

2021 Bourgogne Chardonnay "Cuvee Flavie" ... the nose opens with fresh aromas of green apple, pear & citrus blossom, accompanied by subtle hints of white peach & a touch of hazelnut. On the palate, crisp acidity provides structure & energy, while flavours of lemon zest, ripe orchard fruits & a whisper of vanilla create a balanced & refreshing profile.

2021 Bourgogne Pinot Noir "Cuvee Simone" ... flavours of red berries & cherries are complemented by earthy notes & a touch of minerality. The wine has a silky mouthfeel with soft, well-integrated tannins, allowing the fruit character to shine. As it opens up, more complex layers of flavours, such as hunts of leather & spice emerge.

We are tasting some Patio Sippers this Saturday 🌞

2021 Gómez Cruzado Blanco has a complex nose with notes of honeysuckle, stone fruit & gentle toasty oak. The palate is beautifully textured, with an almost exotic note evident, yet perfectly integrated oak & ripe fruit. The finish is complex with a long citrus edge.

2022 Ferraud Régnié is dry & light-bodied, the palate is characterized by its refreshing acidity & soft supple tannins. The bright red fruit from the nose carries through beautifully, offering a clean & elegant expression. There's a lovely sense of freshness & a subtle earthy undertone that adds interest.
