Bowden Cellars Wine Bar | Bottle Shop | Kitchen
Our drinks list & bottle shop highlight small-batch and boutique South Australian beverage producers.

Bowden Cellars, located within Plant 3—sister venue to Plant 4—is a celebration of South Australia’s finest small-batch producers. Part bar, part bottle shop, part kitchen, it’s a place where every sip tells a story, and every bottle reflects the care, creativity, and personality of its maker. The journey began with the Adelaide Wine Markets at The Market Shed on Holland, where Bowden Cellars’ fou

nders shared their love for local wines, spirits, beers, and ciders with the community. The experience revealed just how much passion and skill goes into small-scale production, and how vital it is to support these artisans who craft every drop with intention. South Australia produces more than half of Australia’s premium wine, making it a hub of quality and innovation—and yet it’s the small-batch producers who truly define the state’s character and flavour. Bowden Cellars was born to celebrate them: to champion their craft, share their stories, and give locals and visitors alike a place to explore, discover, and connect with the very best South Australia has to offer. Setting up shop in the exciting and fast-growing suburb of Bowden resulted in a space that’s more than a bar or bottle shop—it’s a community, a place to gather, and a home for small-batch excellence.

🍷 Friday Wine Tasting @ Bowden Cellars — 5 to 8pm

This Friday we’re joined by Hex Wine Co…..and this one’s a bit of a local love story.

Founded by Ash and Abby, who in 2014 fulfilled a long-held dream of owning their own vineyard in the Adelaide Hills, Hex is about as genuine as it gets. Everything comes from their single estate — Kenton Creek — grown and produced sustainably in small batches. One vineyard, one focus, no shortcuts.

The range speaks for itself — think elegant Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc that feel fresh and precise without being fussy. Exactly the kind of wines we love having on the shelf.

Ash and Abby will be in from 5 to pour and chat through the wines themselves, so come ready with questions. 🍷

🛍️ WEEKLY TASTING SPECIAL: pick any three bottles from the Hex range and take 10% off in the bottle shop — or grab a bottle to drink in and we’ll waive corkage.

As always, every wine we stock and pour is South Australian — small producers, local fruit, nothing else ♥️

🍷 Friday Wine Tasting @ Bowden Cellars — 5 to 8pm

This Friday we’re pouring with Down The Rabbit Hole — a family-owned, boutique McLaren Vale winery that’s been doing things their own way since 2013.

What started as a passion project has grown into one of the region’s most interesting small producers. Their wines are made using biodynamic and organic practices — small volume, seriously considered, and very much rooted in the McLaren Vale landscape.

These are wines with a real sense of place and a bit of personality to match. Come by from 5 and we’ll walk you through the range. 🍷

🍷 Friday Wine Tasting @ Bowden Cellars — 5 to 8pm

This Friday we’re welcoming Chance Encounter to the tasting bench, and if you haven’t come across them before, you’re in for a good night.

Winemaker Jason Barrette — who cut his teeth under Peter Gago at Penfolds — sources fruit from some seriously strong vineyards across McLaren Vale, the Barossa Valley, and the Adelaide Hills. The approach is all about finding the right fruit from the right place, vintage to vintage.

The reds are full-flavoured and densely packed, but never overdone — there’s a confidence to these wines that comes from knowing exactly what you’re working with. The kind of thing that drinks well on a Friday but will still be going strong years from now.

Come by from 5 and the crew from Chance Encounter will walk you through a selection of some of our faves. 🍷

As always, every wine we stock and pour is South Australian — small producers, local fruit, nothing else ♥️

Go to the dark side. 🖤🍺 Now that the cold has finally rolled in, there’s no better time to reach for something dark, rich, and unapologetically bold. Our stout range is stacked with the best local South Australian brews and there’s still more to come — pop in and find your new favourite.

🍷 Friday Wine Tasting @ BC — 5 to 8pm

Joining us this Friday is Main & Cherry…a South Australian producer doing things quietly and doing them well.

They source fruit from some really strong vineyards across McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills, and the winemaking stays well out of the way; low intervention, native ferments, letting each parcel do its own thing. The wines have that quality you get when someone’s not trying too hard: texture, freshness, and a sense of place that’s hard to fake.

Whether you’re deep into Australian cool-climate wines or just after something genuinely delicious on a Friday, it’s worth the stop.

Exclusively stocking and pouring small batch SA producers; always ♥️

See you from 5. 🍷

⏰ 5–8pm

This week we’ve got Sidewood Estate in the Cellars; a name that’s become synonymous with the Adelaide Hills.
Working with estate-grown fruit from the cool-climate heart of the region, Sidewood’s wines are all about precision, balance, and drinkability.

If you’re in the mood for something fresh, expressive, and quietly impressive, this is a great one to drop into.
Come have a taste and ease into the weekend with us 🍷

🍷 Friday Wine Tasting @ Bowden Cellars 🍷
⏰ 5–8pm

This week we’re please to have Dan from Ben Murray Wines on the bench; a small, thoughtful South Australian label focused on site, season, and honest expression in the glass.

Working with carefully selected vineyards across SA, Ben Murray Wines takes a minimal-intervention approach, allowing the fruit to lead and the wines to speak clearly of where they come from. The result is a lineup that’s balanced, textural, and quietly complex.

As always, BC is proud to champion boutique SA producers and this is a great chance to discover something new, straight from the source.

See you on Friday from 5!🍷
