Where science meets the senses. 🧪🍷

Ever wonder what blending day looks like? It takes a lot of wine glasses, a lot of spreadsheets, and a whole lot of teamwork to get the job done!

First, Tyler and the team collect dozens of samples from our barrels to represent each lot. Then, like mad scientists, they carefully use beakers and pipettes to create micro-blends, tracking every fraction of a percent that goes in. Next comes the sensory test, where the team smells and tastes every single variation. 👃👌

In the end, they'll sit down to discuss every option, and it can take hours before they all agree on the exact blend that becomes your next favorite pour! Winemaking is all about collaboration, and we're so glad we have an incredible team that puts their heart and soul into ensuring the wines we share are a true representation of Obelisco.

Obelisco Fun Fact: Did you know we showcase the obelisk on our label in three different ways? 🍷

You may already know that our name "Obelisco" is the Italian word for obelisk (inspired by our founder's many wine trips around the world), but did you know the theme runs throughout the entire label?

Here are the hidden gems:
1️⃣ The "L" in Obelisco is an obelisk! (This one is the most obvious).
2️⃣ The cutout on the right side of the label is the silhouette of an obelisk (well... half of one, anyway!).
3️⃣ The square with an X is actually the top of the obelisk (called the pyramidion) when viewed from directly above! This pyramidion was often gilded in the golden metal alloy called "electrum" to shine with the rays of the sun.

Tomorrow we're kicking off our summer of Food Truck Fridays with Macho Burger! They'll be stationed outside at Apple Farm Village from 4:30 - 8:00 PM, serving mouth-watering, inventive burgers and sandwiches. Go classic with a bacon cheeseburger, or branch out with their "Macho-Macho" or "12th Man" burgers!

Enjoy your meal out on our patio with a crisp glass of Sangria or Sauv Blanc. ☀️🥂 Plus, stay for live music from 7:00 - 9:00 PM with Ali Diane : Singer/Songwriter!

Per my last email, the grapes are, in fact, growing. 🌱🍇 Here's your official Red Mountain vineyard status update:

Betsy & Melissa recently took a trip out to Red Mountain AVA to check on the new 2026 growth. As they walked the rows, our vineyard manager, Marshall, gave them a hands-on tour of what's to come. There is nothing quite like looking out over the terroir that shapes our favorite pours! 🍷

Out in the vines, bud break is behind us, and we're starting to see the small flower clusters (called inflorescences) that will eventually become grapes. Notice the tiny hairs on the leaves and stems? These "trichomes" are a brilliant adaptation that helps the vines deflect intense sunlight and retain moisture during those hot Red Mountain summers. ☀️

There's no substitute for checking the vines and making decisions right at the source. Great wine doesn't happen by accident. It starts with boots on the ground and constant, careful vineyard management (even if some days just feel like managing dirt 😉).
