Wait is finally over. Our trip in June this year, we have did little different and decided to pick two barrels of Old Forester - 100 proof and Barrel Strength
1. LJ Old Forester 100 proof “Sugar & Spice” 2P

Just in another gem from way up on the 8th floor of rickhouse G of Old Forester. The nose really pops on this one with soaring acroamas of banana bread, caramel apples and drawn butter. At 100 proof there is plenty of power yet it remains silky and round. A beautiful mid palate offers up complex notes of poached pears, crisp apples and a gentle mouth coating sweetness. On the finish, a touch oak harmonizes with ripe fruit and a whisper of butterscotch candy. A perfect start to any great meal while saving the cask strength barrel for after dinner.

Quite a noticeable darker color then its sister 100 proof barrel picked on the same trip. This wh***ey has developed wonderful maturity from just the 1st floor of rickhouse L the nose shows notes of dried flowers, toasty oak and honeycomb. While palate shows off flavors of green apple, melons, and spice cake. Certainly, the oak carries through the finish but is never overpowering, letting bright notes of raw honey, orchard fruits and vanilla cream shine through. Quite deceptive for a 128 proof wh***ey. Perfect for week days and weekends.
