We’ve heard this phrase quite a bit, “We’d rather be lucky than good”… but it wasn’t until this weekend, that we truly felt that meaning… our driver had a heck of a heat race day… He won all of them but one (had an awesome race in that one too until the finish line), but when it came to the features… Nash man had bad luck on his side… becoming collateral damage twice after 2 other cars wrecks, and unfortunately, the calls that were made really hurt him…

Jr. Honda: We had an extremely fast car.. we were in p3 when p2 and a lap car got hooked together, turning the p2 car to the left across the track and since Nash had already committed to going down low to avoid the wreck that was up high, he had no where to go when the car was then turned left. That hit then pushed Nash into the infield, putting him all 4 below, where he would then stop after a caution was thrown. He unfortunately then had the call put on him and had to go to the back. 💔 he then wheeled it back up to p4! We’re so proud of his drive! That’s a TRUE racer right there.. just no luck. 🙂

Jr. Animal: read my post on the heat to know how we got to the C Main (he did awesome in that heat race, it was just hard battling at the finish line that stopped us before the checkered line).
Feature: Started 8th in the c main.. drove quickly up to p2, caught the leader faster than he was expecting, spun the leader, putting us starting over in the back. Drove back to a transfer spot, then 2 cars got together in front of us and the 2nd car that was involved was turned left across our nose and we got a DOT call instead of an “after the fact”. This put us to the back for a 3rd time, where in only a few laps left, he would drive it back up to finish in 5th.

Jr. 160: by this point, our man was feeling completely defeated… he still gave it his all and battled in the top 5 the whole race. Car was a little too tight for him to do what he needed to come off with a win.

Definitely nothing he could’ve done differently, but, sometimes the competition is the other cars and sometimes you race the track… and this weekend, we had wild situations against us 👎 … Nash still wheeled it back up to 2 top 5s, just none of the wins we were hoping for. While this was an important weekend for us, we are remembering that these outcomes they have at age 9, doesn’t necessarily truly reflect their skills… sometimes it just reflects someone’s luck. And in reality, “We’d rather be good, than lucky” 🙂 We’re always learning, sometimes they’re just different lessons! On to the next… 🙂

We had a blast during Kid’s Night! Ashton drove like a seasoned veteran in the B main. Starting P5 he drove to lead by lap 4 gapping 2nd place by 1.7 seconds in the 10 lap race. He also had the fastest lap in the Cadet division of 12.65 seconds.
Thank you to everyone who helps us get to the race track!

Another good night at the track for Joe. Started 10th in the A main. Made some good passes got up to 5th at one point. Then had a spin had to go to rear. Ended up finishing 11th. Still some stuff to work on but for his 5th race he is doing a great job. He will be off for a few weeks so now time to get big brother car ready for the weekend.

Yesterday was by far my favorite racing memory in our 2 and a half years. We started kids night at Millbridge Speedway with signing autographs and driver introductions. We went on to start p6 in the A main. 2 laps into the race a kid tagged us in the left rear which spun both of us sending them to the rear. Then 2 laps into the restart was where it got scary. Two cars got together in front of Lawson leaving him no where to go leading to a big wreck for him. When we got to him he was fine and just wanted to finish the race even though his car was destroyed. Dad got him recranked and he drove the wheels off of it. Literally made his way back into the top 6 and with every car he passed the crowd went wild. We had so many people make him feel loved and check on him. Amazing friends that jumped in to help us and tell him how awesome he was for finishing. The kid has a natural talent for driving a destroyed car. Thank you so much to all of our sponsors who make this possible for him. He needs you now more than ever 😂.

A few of our drivers went to check out a new track at Callahan Speedway near Jacksonville for a fun race. Great night of racing and a photo finish for the money race! 🤑🏁
