WHAT is A TAHONA?
A tahona is a large, heavy stone wheel that is used in Mezcal production to crush roasted agave. It weighs up to 4,000 pounds. It’s pulled around by either a machine or an animal, such as a donkey, ox, or horse. 🐴⚙️

📸 I met Gabrieta in 2024 while visiting Mezcal Gracias a Dios palenque. She’s been working at this Palenque pulling the tahona for many years.

🌋Smokey Hill W**ery was founded in 1991 by Steve Jennings and Kay Bloom. They hand-planted the first vines on a one-acre field in Salina, Kansas. They now work with multiple vineyards throughout Kansas.

🍷🐄Tanglefoot w**ery specializes in Fruit W**es or Country W**es. All W**es are made in small batches, making up to 20 different w**es at a time. W**emaker and owner, Adrian Hubele has been making w**e for over 20 years.
