Rough day at the office.

Today I had the opportunity to taste through 25 wines from Domaine Moillard, including multiple Grand Cru and 1er Cru vineyard bottlings. The lineup spanned decades, including wines from 2023, 2022, 2020 (my favorites across the board!), 2014, 2005, and even 1948. Tasting Burgundy with this kind of age is always humbling. The 1948 was a remarkable reminder that great Burgundy is often measured not in years, but in generations. This IS your reminder to cellar your wine (and mine!)!

The hardest part is figuring out what to order!

Join us tomorrow from 4–6 pm for a super fun Happy Hour with Aimee from Achrimère Wines and Kim from The Cheese Lady Traverse City. We’re super excited to bring together two incredible locally owned businesses we love so much… and selfishly drink wine and eat cheese with all of you while we’re at it.

This is a casual, complimentary drop-in style event, so swing by anytime between 4–6 pm. Aimee will be here pouring her wines and talking about what it actually looks like to run a one-woman wine business from the ground up. The wines are insanely good on their own, but hearing everything she does behind the scenes makes them taste even better. Kim will be here with delicious cheeses to pair alongside the wines.

Come hang out, snack, sip, ask questions, celebrate Michigan Wine Month and support some seriously inspiring women doing really cool things in Northern Michigan.

This week we’re talking about Kristy’s trip to Austria with the ⁠Left Foot Charley⁠ wine club and…it may have been the best trip ever. Once the childcare logistics, emotional spiraling, packing chaos, work prep, and household survival plans were complete, Austria delivered. Incredible wine, breathtaking vineyards, amazing people, endless Grüner (and a bit of Absinthe!), beautiful meals, and travel moments that remind you why getting out of your routine matters so much, like padding around on a swan boat in Austria instead of answering 47 texts about carpool plan changes.

Phoenix New Birth is tasting beautifully right now. Refreshing strawberries and cream and beautifully integrated bubbles. Sometimes a wine needs time to find out what it’s going to be when it grows up and this one is in that moment. Grab the last few bottles while they’re still around!

Phoenix Rebirth has dialed the fruit up to 11. Bright, crisp, refreshing, summer berries and fizz. Out just in time for sharing on the patio or beach this is summer sun in a bottle.

Saturday tasting is looking reaallll nice. We’re pouring wines from Guthrie Family Wines, a small Sonoma producer focused on organically farmed, minimal intervention wines that are fresh, balanced, and incredibly easy to love. Husband and wife team Blair and Caroline Guthrie make wines meant for real life: good food, good people, and not taking wine too seriously.

In this episode we get into the ⁠⁠⁠SLO Coast AVA⁠⁠⁠ in California and an absolutely killer tasting with Rajat Parr at Phelan Farm, plus wines from Mikey Giugni of Scar of the Sea and Lady of the Sunshine. We also somehow cover rivers turning into lakes, trips to the dump, personality types that probably should be studied, the very specific energy of a two year old on his birthday, and why getting older is making us more bad ass.

May is Michigan Wine Month and we’re always pumped to pour Michigan wine for you. We have a really fun lineup planned for the rest of the month with complimentary Thursday Happy Hours from 4–6 pm featuring some of our favorite local producers.

Tomorrow we’re kicking things off with Black Star farms, followed by Loose Cannon next week, and Achrimère Wines the week after. We’ll also be pouring new vintages from Bos Wine, Left Foot Charley Wineryand Big Little Wines during upcoming Saturday tastings. Happy Hours and Saturday tastings (10-6pm) are casual, complimentary, and always a great excuse to stop by!

One of the best parts about the Happy Hour is getting to meet the people behind the bottles, hear their stories, and taste what’s happening right here in our own backyard. We’re excited to share these wines with all of you and hope to see you throughout the month!
