🍷 We're very excited to have Domaine Daniel Bouland Beaujolais at the shop!
Daniel Bouland is known as a slightly "reclusive" grower, but his wines speak loud and clear. Working with old Gamay vines in the Morgon lieux-dits of Corcelette, Bellevue, and Pré Jourdan, he makes some of the most soulful, traditional reds in the region—dark, earthy, and full of character, with real structure and grip.
These are wines made to age. While many Beaujolais bottlings are meant for early drinking, Bouland’s have a different pace. He suggests giving them at least five years to really let the terroir come into focus, showing off the wine’s clarity and mineral depth. In great vintages, they can easily go 15 years. That said, they’re not exactly shy in their youth either.
The 2023 Morgon Bellevue shows a little reduction on the nose but is armed with brisk and breezy blackberry and raspberry fruit that give way to hints of cassis. The palate is medium-bodied and sorbet-fresh, with saturated tannins and a touch of orange rind towards the linear and quite persistent finish. Very fine. - By Neal Martin/ Vinous
With notes of dark cherries, blackberries and graphite, the 2023 Côte de Brouilly Cuvée Melanie is an impressive expression of volcanic blue stone soil. The palate reveals concentrated, sappy fruit layered with enveloping chalky tannins. Linear and focused, the wine offers moderate acidity, creating a balanced structure with a long, mineral-driven, mouthwatering finish. - Wine Advocate
