for October **eClub is here!

October is a month in-between.
Nowhere is that more keenly felt than here in Michigan. The leaves are at their most extravagant just as the trees prepare to let them go. The lake still remembers summer, even as the mornings begin to hint at winter. We linger over the last warm afternoons, gather around the table a little earlier, and begin cooking things that take their time. It’s a lovely contradiction. A season that seems to be holding on even as the light lingers less.
 
This month’s w**es come from three very different corners of France, but each possesses something of that in-between spirit.
 
In Alsace, the Zusslin family has been tending its vineyards for more than three centuries, finding new ways to preserve what makes their w**es so distinctive, even as the world changes around them. Their Le Paradis brings together the brightness of Riesling and the generosity of Pinot Gris in a w**e that seems perfectly at home on either side of the season.
 
Far to the south, in the Luberon, Sylvain Morey makes w**e between two worlds. Raised in Burgundy, he ventured into Provence, bringing his Burgundian sensibility to a landscape of sun-drenched limestone hills and wild garrigue, fragrant with thyme, rosemary and lavender.  His Panorama Blanc is redolent of the Midi, yet it still carries a Burgundian restraint beneath the intensity of the Provençal sun.
 
And then there’s the Loire, where the Boucard family has learned the value of waiting. Their 2017 Bourgueil has spent nine years becoming something it couldn’t have been in its youth. The fruit is still there, but time has given it another dimension. It’s a w**e for the other side of October, when the evenings grow longer and there’s no particular reason to hurry.
 
Paradise. Panorama. Patience. Three very different w**es, each with its own way of finding beauty somewhere in-between. We hope you enjoy them.

It was so wonderful having michael in the shop last weekend for a tasting featuring such lovely w**es from Champagnes & Châteaux USA.
We also took the visit to make some very fun plans for our very special w**e dinner at Granor Farm on December 19th. Be sure to secure your tickets on their website.
