The tequila market is speaking, and consumers are listening. 👀
As major spirits companies respond to slowing sales and discounting, one thing is becoming clear: drinkers are demanding transparency, authenticity, and quality over celebrity hype.
Are we witnessing a shift away from mass-market tequila and toward traditionally made, additive-free brands?
What’s influencing your buying decisions these days? Price, celebrity endorsements, or what’s actually in your glass? 🥂👇

Have you tried it? Honored to have received one of the very first bottles to reach the US market and feature it in the first of this Front Porch Sips series. Nuestras Raíces (our roots) brought to you by and Master Distiller Humberto Alvarado. Still strength 92 proof.

Aroma: Intense roasted agave, lime, lemon and orange, hint of black pepper, salty air and wet cement.

Taste: Sweet, roasted agave followed by a blast of pepper, citrus, light anise and minerality. Very nice full body mouth feel.

Finish: long & zesty

If you enjoy a blast of agave and bold flavors with a finish that keeps on giving this one’s for you. Go get it!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of representing at the . I served up a Paloma featuring fresh basil and olive oil that definitely sparked some curiosity—and thankfully, a lot of smiles. And speaking of things that caught people’s attention was a huge hit all day long!

This festival truly gets better every year. A big thank you to the creators and organizers who make it all happen, the brands that showed up to share their spirits, the educators who helped spread agave knowledge throughout Nashville, and most importantly, the attendees who came out to support and sip well-made, clean-crafted tequilas.

Already looking forward to next year. Salud! 🥂

What happens when two still-strength tequilas come from the same distillery but showcase different agave origins and production choices?

In this review, I take a closer look at Plata Fuerte and Quiote Still Strength, both crafted at Hacienda Capellania (NOM 1545) in San José de Gracia, Jalisco. While the Plata Fuerte is made with Lowland agaves and the Quiote with Highland agaves, that’s just the beginning of their story. I also dive into some of the production differences that help shape their unique personalities.

Both are beautifully made still-strength tequilas, each offering its own distinct aroma and flavor profile. If you’re curious about how terroir and production methods influence what’s in your glass, this one’s for you.

Drink what you love, but know what’s in your glass!
