Brian- '24 The Federalist Cabernet Sauvignon (Lodi), $16.99 (reg. $19.99) The wine presents a deep red hue: on the nose, it offers aromas of dusty black plum, chocolate, and black olive, accented by hints of cedar and baking spices; the palate opens with a smooth entry, revealing a medium weight and a long, lingering finish with firm tannins that provide excellent grip.
Ian- 23 Tenuta Rapitala Viviri Grillo (Sicily), $13.99 (reg. $16.99) Savory, umami aromas of low tide, seaweed and crushed shells on the nose then turn citrusy with abundant fresh lemon, lime and grapefruit. The palate presents sweeter fruit notes of sugared half-grapefruit and candied orange slices, but also has teeth-tingling acid and flaky Maldon salt. 90 WS
Ted- '17 Copertino Negroamoro (Italy), $12.99 (reg. $14.99) Ruby red with garnet hints. Intense, full, rich and ethereal aromas of blackberry, plum, Mediterranean vegetation, ripe fruit, and leather. Warm, rich and generous, with complex tones and flavors of almond and blackcurrant. Perfect for pizza, burgers, red sauce and meat pasta.
Bill- '24 Frei Brothers Sonoma Reserve Chardonnay, $15.99 (reg. $18.99) Our focused Chardonnay is a cool-climate California white wine, characterized by notes of green apple, citrus, pear, and a creamy, toasty, or buttery texture with a 13.9% ABV. It is a, well-balanced, medium-bodied wine often described as having a rich, lingering finish.
Carol- '24 Argyle Pinot Noir (Willamette), $23.99 (reg. $27.99) Fresh and lilting, with pretty cherry and cranberry flavors marked by toasty spice and orange peel accents that linger on the snappy finish. 91 WS
Ben-'25 Mollydooker 'The Boxer" Shiraz (Australia), $25.99 (reg. $29.99) The 2023 Boxer is poised to impress Shiraz enthusiasts with its deep and complex profile. It features a solid core of dark fruit, including ripe black cherries, mocha, and a hint of clove spice, all of which emerge vividly from the glass. The wine's rich and velvety mouthfeel is enhanced by a soft plummy texture, while well-measured tannins and a touch of toasted oak provide balance and structure. This combination creates a rich, multi-layered experience, making the 2023 Boxer a truly engaging and enjoyable tasting experience.
