Wow…..time flies. We almost forgot ourselves.

This morning we reflected on our first day pulling up to the market and seeing a dream, a vision. We were so excited. We knew it was gonna be a lot of work and we were all in but we also loved it just as it was.

I was a salon owner in HB and also worked as full time hairstylist behind the chair. Jeff worked full time and helped me with the salon any way he could. Deciding to take on another business was scary, but I knew Jeff & I together, could do anything. Having a hair salon, business experience, we knew we could do what the market needed and hopefully make a difference.

Right away we had a vision. That was simply to clean. Stock and Clean. We upgraded software and started the process. It was tedious and overwhelming at first but it all started to work and flow. The salon income is what helped us fund the work on the market and upgrade what we could little by little for 10 years.

I’m so grateful for the salon and how it supported my new business. I worked all week and my favorite part of the week was driving to work at the market Saturday & Sunday morning to Silverado Canyon. Sitting by the creek, drinking a tall can and decompressing. It became my therapy.

Meeting the locals and visitors was an experience itself. Meeting so many wonderful people. Learning to read people was my forte so I did pretty well. We tried to appease everyone and did 95% of the time. It wasn’t easy….

Over the years, we have become very protective of this canyon, its people and the market. It’s so special. So much history and conversations have filled this space and we couldn’t be more grateful God chose us to take care of it. I’ve met some of the best people I know right here in Silverado.

This little market is a rarity now-a-days. Ya don’t come across ma & pa markets anymore. This place is so beyond special.

Our sweet boy is gone.

Odin was one of a kind. He was special. There was something about him that just drew you to him. Everyone wanted to touch and love on him.

Odin was a rescue. He was a show bred dog and was bought by someone that mistreated him. He has tough beginnings. He was rescued by his breeder with very little hair and infested with flees left in a cage in the middle of a field with no water. He survived.

He never got mean or damaged from his childhood, he just loved harder. And BOY did he love. The unconditional affection and love he had for us, was beyond anything I’ve ever seen in an animal. And we’ve have had a lot.

We pulled into a McDonalds parking lot in Quartz Site, AZ in 2014. We saw Odin with his paws on this 5 foot women’s shoulder licking her face like crazy. We pulled up and said, that’s him. We had only seen a blurry picture of him, and knew he was related to our last 2 pit bulls….so that was all the info we needed. We were heartbroken from loosing them and Odin came in and healed us. He literally helped us. Mended our broken hearts.

We are forever grateful to him. He changed our lives. We want to be like him, as odd as that sounds.

I wanna live like Odin. If only humans could love one another like dogs, Odin would be the poster child.

So now we heal and love on our little 17 year old Chihuahua. We will mourn him like crazy because nothing will ever take his place.

First night without him…..here we go and hope he visits. His water is full and food bowl full of treats.
