We are hiring for the SALADO position of:
Retail Tobacconist at The Leaf Affair Cigar Shop!
Position Overview -
The Retail Tobacconist is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while assisting guests in selecting ci**rs, to***co products, accessories, and related merchandise. This position requires a genuine interest in premium ci**rs, a willingness to continually develop product knowledge, and the ability to make customers feel welcome and comfortable in a retail cigar environment.
The ideal candidate is personable, dependable, professional, knowledgeable, and passionate about creating an enjoyable experience for every customer—from the first-time cigar smoker to the experienced aficionado.
Essential Responsibilities -
1) Customer Service & Sales:
* Welcome every customer promptly and provide friendly, professional service.
* Engage customers to understand their preferences, experience level, and budget.
* Recommend ci**rs based on flavor profile, strength, size, wrapper, origin, and customer preferences.
* Educate customers about ci**rs without being intimidating or overwhelming.
* Assist customers in selecting cigar accessories, including cutters, lighters, humidification products, and other merchandise.
* Maintain a professional yet relaxed atmosphere consistent with the culture of out premium cigar shop.
* Develop relationships with regular customers and provide personalized service.
* Operate the point-of-sale system accurately and efficiently.
* Process cash, credit/debit, gift cards, and other transactions according to company procedures.
* Promote current specials, events, and store promotions.
2) Humidor & Merchandise Management:
* Maintain the appearance, organization, cleanliness, and proper conditions of the humidor.
* Properly stock, rotate, and organize cigar inventory.
* Monitor cigar inventory and communicate low-stock or out-of-stock products to management.
* Handle ci**rs carefully to prevent damage.
* Assist with receiving, checking, pricing, and stocking merchandise.
* Maintain accurate product displays and pricing.
* Help keep the retail floor, lounge areas, counters, and work areas clean and organized.
3) Product Knowledge:
* Develop and maintain knowledge of premium ci**rs, including:
* Cigar brands and blends
* Wrapper, binder, and filler to***cos
* Country and region of origin
* Strength and flavor profiles
* Cigar sizes and shapes
* Proper cutting, lighting, and smoking techniques
* Proper cigar storage and humidification
* Stay informed about new products, limited releases, seasonal offerings, and company promotions.
4) Lounge & Customer Experience:
* Help maintain a clean, comfortable, and welcoming lounge environment.
* Monitor customer needs and provide attentive service without being intrusive.
* Assist with events, tastings, manufacturer visits, and promotional activities.
* Follow all company policies regarding lounge operations, customer conduct, and to***co regulations.
* Represent the business professionally at all times.
Qualifications -
* Previous retail, hospitality, sales, or customer-service experience a plus.
* Previous to***conist or cigar-industry experience is a plus but not necessarily required.
* Genuine interest in premium ci**rs and willingness to learn.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Comfortable talking with customers from a variety of backgrounds and experience levels.
* Ability to make knowledgeable recommendations while respecting the customer’s preferences and budget.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Reliable, punctual, and dependable with own transportation.
* Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Professional appearance and positive attitude.
* Must be able to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws governing to***co sales and consumption. Must be 21 or older with ID.
Physical Requirements -
* Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
* Ability to lift and move boxes or merchandise as required.
* Ability to stand on a step stool/ladder.
* Ability to perform repetitive stocking, cleaning, and organizational tasks.
* Ability to work in a cigar-lounge environment where to***co smoke will be present.
* Ability to problem solve.
* Ability to make change/count money

A successful Retail Tobacconist will do more than simply sell ci**rs. They will become a trusted resource for us and our customers, help maintain the quality and presentation of the humidor and lounge area, and help create an atmosphere where customers want to return. Our goal is to provide every customer with the right cigar, the right information, and an experience that keeps them coming back!
As a candidate for our shop, one MUST be able to work Wed & Thurs 1:00-8:00, Fri 1:00-10:00, and Sun 1:00-6:00 and an occasional Saturday 1:00-10:00 as needed if asked. This is a great position for a retiree who wants to stay busy!
