Incoming! What is it? Another big and bold Girls on the Run curriculum, 'Hello, Mountain Mover!'

This curriculum helps girls discover their 'I Can! Power' through engaging lessons, conversations, and physical activity. They’ll learn how to face obstacles with confidence, bounce back from mistakes, and keep going even when things feel tough. Life’s challenges don’t have to keep them from reaching their goals — give your girl a space where she can discover how much she’s capable of.

This season, 'Hello, Mountain Mover!' will be at Beal City, Hampton Elementary, Handley Elementary, and Freeland Elementary! Registration is open, sign up today!

"Being a star just means that you just find your own special place, and that you shine where you are." - Dolly Parton

At Girls on the Run, we strive to be that special place where girls everywhere can shine. Thanks for leading by example, Dolly.

Confidence can show up in lots of ways, and sometimes it looks like standing up for someone else. At Girls on the Run, girls learn to use their voices not just for themselves, but to support those around them. In fact, 93% of alums credited Girls on the Run with helping them stand up for others, whether standing up when someone is not being treated well, saying something when they need help, or doing something when they see they can make a difference.

New school year, same unstoppable energy! As girls head into new classrooms and big transitions, it’s the perfect time to revisit our ‘Self-Talk’ lesson. Remind her to catch any negative self-talk and change it into positive self-talk. Speaking to herself with confidence and kindness helps her face new challenges with courage. You’ve got this, GOTR girls!

Do you know about Heart & Sole? 🩷👟

Heart & Sole is a Girls on the Run Program designed for middle school girls (6th-8th grades) and it gives girls a place to move, connect and be themselves. Heart & Sole helps middle school girls build confidence, strengthen friendships, and explore what matters to them. Through movement, reflection, and team connection, Heart & Sole gives girls space to grow during an important stage in life.

This season, we have one Heart & Sole team at Harrison Middle School! This will be their seventh season with us! They started back in 2015 with GOTR Central Michigan, and recently returned to the program in spring 2025. We are so excited to have them back again this season and can’t wait to see them unleash their inner boss!

Heart & Sole is a 10-week program starting the week of September 14, sign up today to join the Harrison Middle School team!

We want to give a superstar shoutout to our own junior coach, Alaina Weyrowske, who served as Miss Bay County’s Teen this past year! She has been with us for two seasons, starting off as a team helper, then becoming a junior coach at Central Park Elementary.

As Miss Bay County’s Teen, she focused on her own platform, Getting Involved: The Impact of Youth Leadership. For the last year, she has volunteered with us, advocated for GOTR, and helped grow the program’s reach in Bay County.

While Alaina has passed off the crown, she will still stay on as a junior coach this year helping build confidence, problem solving, and critical thinking skills for GOTR girls. If you want to hear more about Alaina’s mission and her experience as a junior coach, check out her junior coach interview on our page!

If you’re interested in becoming a junior coach like Alaina, you don’t need a crown to do so! Sign up to be a junior coach for the fall season at the link below!
