M by Macanudo Myers’s Rum

It is offered in a 5 x 50 robusto and uses an Indonesian wrapper over a blend of Dominican to***cos. While flavored, it is not infused with rum. Rather, STG says the cigar is flavored to complement a glass of rum. Like the other M by Macanudo flavored lines, it is made at General Cigar Dominicana.

“Myers’s Rum is one of the most recognizable names associated with Jamaica, and its rich flavor profile made it a natural inspiration for this release,” said Matt Wilson, senior brand manager for Macanudo, in a press release. “With M by Macanudo Myers’s Rum, we wanted to create a cigar that celebrates the shared heritage of both brands while delivering a smooth and flavorful smoking experience.”

It’s called Static and is billed as representing a pinnacle of artistry and flavor. The blend uses two wrappers to create the barber pole design, one an Ecuadorian corojo and the other an Ecuadorian maduro. Underneath those leaves are an Ecuadorian habano binder and Nicaraguan fillers. The blend and artwork for Static was created by James Brown, master blender of Black Label Trading Co. and Fábrica Oveja Negra, the factory that produced the ci**rs.

“Like the Audiophile, Static goes outside the usual Emilio profile and shakes things up,” said Brown in a press release. “This cigar is bold, spice-forward and very unique. The dual wrappers create a complex and balanced profile.”

“The Rocky Patel Sapphire uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over two binders: one from Estelí, Nicaragua and the other from the Jamastran Valley in Honduras. The fillers are from the Condega, Estelí and Jalapa regions of Nicaragua and are said to be six- to seven-years-old. Outside of the wrapper, all of the to***co comes from the company’s own farms. Sapphire is made at Tabacalera Villa Cuba S.A. in Estelí.”

Room101 Johnny To***conaut Maduro

“In 2015, Room101—then an independent brand distributed by Davidoff—announced a new limited edition line with the memorable name Johnny To***conaut, which featured a brand icon of an astronaut holding a small shovel and wearing a backpack with some to***co leaves. The first release was a Nicaraguan puro that consisted of three different perfecto vitolas, made at the Camacho factory in Honduras. Six years later, a couple of years after Room101 had left the Davidoff distribution agreement, and a new AJ Fernandez-made Room101 Johnny To***conaut cigar was released as an exclusive release for Luxury Cigar Club. Less than a year later, in mid-2022, Room101 was purchased by Scandinavian To***co Group.”

Bold yet refined, the Room101 Johnny To***conaut Maduro is an excellent example of a medium-full blend that does not skimp on the flavors it delivers. The profile is dense and complex, with a wonderful blackberry sweetness on the retrohale that pairs well with the black pepper. Yes, the combination of spice and black pepper was a bit aggressive in the first puffs, but it calmed down nicely after that, and other than two minor burn corrections, the construction was excellent. This may not be the most attractive cigar in the world, but it is one of the best Room 101 ci**rs I have smoked in quite a while, and I look forward to seeing how some rest time changes the profile.

El Rey del Mundo Appointment Cameroon

“El Rey del Mundo Appointment is blended for the cigar lover who understands the importance of choosing the right cigar for the right occasion,” said Ed Lahmann, senior brand manager for STG, in a press release. “It’s about taking the time to select and enjoy the perfect cigar. And for us, El Rey del Mundo Appointment is that perfect cigar.”

It uses a Cameroon-seed wrapper grown by the Eiroa family at its farm in Danlí, Honduras. Underneath are a Connecticut broadleaf binder and fillers from Ecuador and Nicaragua.

While the wrapper comes from the Eiroa family, the ci**rs are made at STG Danlí and distributed by Scandinavian To***co Group’s (STG) Forged Cigar Co.
