Bolivar Aniversario

The Bolivar Aniversario is a 6 x 52 toro that uses an Ecuadorian habano wrapper, a Brazilian Arapiraca binder, and filler to***co from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Paraguay. “This combination of rare to***cos and exceptional craftsmanship delivers a uniquely indulgent smoking experience that fans new and old will appreciate,” STG said in a press release.

A press release for the Bolivar Aniversario indicated that the ci**rs are being released “to celebrate over 130 years in the industry,” though the Bolívar brand dates back to the early 1900s. Habanos S.A., which owns the Cuban-made brand, cites 1902 as the year it was established. A spokesperson for STG said that “we recognize the date of 1895 as the date Jose Roche had the inspiration for the Bolivar brand,” adding that “the institutional knowledge/folklore within the company is that that was the date he originally came up with the idea for the brand although rolling began some time later 1901 or 1902.”

Plasencia Cosecha 151

“Ci**rs get their names from all kinds of sources, but Plasencia Ci**rs has been keeping its Cosecha series of ci**rs, naming them for the number of crops that the company has harvested and using that to***co for the cigar. Cosecha is the Spanish word for harvest, meaning that the Cosecha 151 is named for the 151st crop that the Plasencia family has harvested over its multiple generations in the to***co business. More specifically, the to***co for this cigar comes from Honduras and the 2016 harvest.”

“As Nestor Andrés Plasencia alluded to in discussing this blend, Honduran to***co doesn’t always get the recognition and credit it deserves. The terroir can be a bit much for some palates, but when it’s done right—as it is here—the flavor is both distinct and clean without the dusty earth and roughness that appears in some lesser to***cos from the country. The flavor finds its footing right away and holds true to it, never trying to introduce flavors that aren’t part of the typical Honduran profile, while still managing to shift each component around in a way that gives the three main drivers its own third to shine. If you enjoy the kind of flavor profile that quality Honduran to***co can deliver, this is definitely a cigar worth checking out, as it delivers that signature profile about as well as any other Honduran puro on the market, capped off with fantastic construction that makes it very easy to smoke and enjoy.”

Room101 the Big Payback Extra Fuerte 70s

“SO. MUCH. GIRTH. So much circumference. So much delight,” said Matt Booth, founder and creative strategist of Room101 Ci**rs, in a press release. “The Big Payback Extra Fuerte 70s is “a full-bodied release built for smokers who prefer their ci**rs with a little more diameter and a little more attitude,” the company says.

Go big or go home and luckily for us, Room101 is not afraid to go big. They prove it once again with Room101 the Big Payback Extra Fuerte 70’s. Sure, the 70-ring gauge might look intimidating, but it just means you’ve signed up for a longer, cooler, and more indulgent ride. Matt Booth isn’t afraid to push the envelope, but boy does he deliver. A welcome addition to the Big Payback line, Extra Fuerte 70’s becomes the life of the party.

Illusione Allegria Lonsdale

“Covered in a milk chocolate brown wrapper, the Illusione Allegria Lonsdale is both smooth and dry to the touch, with almost no oil visible. In addition, all three ci**rs are nicely firm when squeezed and while there are some veins visible, none are even close to distracting. A strong peanut shell note leads the aromas emanating from the wrapper, followed by creamy cedar, earth, cocoa nibs, leather and slight vanilla sweetness. Aromas from the foot include almonds, leather, sawdust and raisin sweetness. After a punch, the cold draw brings flavors of more almonds, sawdust, gritty earth, nutmeg and milk chocolate sweetness.”

“There is a noticeable mineral saltiness on my lips as well as white pepper, spice on my tongue and a freshly roasted espresso bean flavor that quickly moves to the background as the burn line progresses, replaced by the main flavor combination of almonds and earth. Secondary flavors of cinnamon, saltine crackers, cedar, leather tack, roasted espresso beans and slight citrus peel flit in and out, while the retrohale features both white pepper and fondant sweetness, the latter of which starts off fairly strong before beginning to fade slightly. Flavor starts at medium, body is at mild-plus and the strength is halfway between mild and medium. In terms of construction, the draws are excellent on all three ci**rs after I use a punch cutter and the smoke production is about normal, and while the burn line is a little wonky, none of the ci**rs become problematic enough to need correcting.”

Plasencia Alma del Campo

“Once lit, there’s a very balanced profile of cashews, chocolate, leather and some hay. Things change after a half-inch when wood takes over as the main flavor. It’s mixed with earthiness, along with something that reminds me of vegetable oil, and water cashews. The Plasencia Alma del Campo Travesía Toro Extra Box Pressed has a very compact profile, meaning it takes a bit more work to figure out just what’s going on. The finish is drier with peanut butter, oak and burnt pasta. Retrohales have burnt bread and not much else initially, though the finish has a deep meaty flavor with bit of spice and oak. Flavor is medium-full, body is medium-full and strength is medium-plus. Construction is great, though the burn rate isn’t the quickest in the world.”

AJ Fernandez Amar

“The name has two different meanings. In Spanish, amar means to love; while in Arabic, it is the word for moon. The company says this highlights Abdel Fernández’s heritage; he is known for being Cuban but also has Lebanese heritage.”

“Like the lunar phase that directly follows a moon at full illumination, Amar represents reflection, gratitude, personal growth, and new beginnings,” said the company in a press release. “AJ’s passion and perseverance only made him return stronger, and the cigar community’s unwavering support overwhelms him with appreciation and fuels his purpose.”

Illusione Epernay Tuonela Le Grande

“In 2025, Illusione announced it was releasing a new version of the Epernay, bearing the name Epernay Tuonela. While the new line debuted in four sizes that are also used for the original incarnation, the blend was changed to include a Mexican San Andrés wrapper covering undisclosed to***cos in the binder and filler.”

“A combination of light spice, coffee beans and dry earth starts the ci**rs off, but after about 10 puffs, the profile shifts to main flavors of roasted peanuts and toasted bread. At various points, secondary flavors of coffee beans, creamy cedar, cinnamon, barnyard, gritty earth and light cloves show up, while the retrohale features a small amount of black pepper and brown sugar sweetness. The light spice on my tongue from the first puffs sticks around through the first third on my first and second ci**rs, but it is nowhere to be seen on my last cigar. Flavor is at full while both the body and strength hit a solid medium. There are zero issues with construction in the first third, as razor-sharp burn lines, excellent draw resistance and an appropriate amount of smoke all work together.”

Plasencia Cosecha 149 Azacualpa

“This is a cigar that shows a beautiful progression of flavors, mixing creaminess with varied expressions of earth, a mix of pepper, some spice, occasional wood and flashes of toastiness. Capped off by fantastic construction, the Plasencia Cosecha 149 Azacualpa is at a fantastic place right now and definitely worthy of some aging.”

Drew Estate Undercrown El Tigre Dominicano

“Drew Estate is giving its newest version of Undercrown a decidedly Dominican spin. It’s called Undercrown El Tigre Dominicano, and uses Dominican HVA and C-98 fillers, which the company says gives the cigar balance, structure, and aromatic depth. They get paired with a Connecticut corojo H99 hybrid binder and an Ecuadorian Sumatra-seed wrapper. The result is a medium-to-full-bodied flavor profile, described as being refined and expressive, with white pepper and espresso in the nose and earthy undertones bringing depth and continuity.”

“‘El Tigre Dominicano means so much to all of us at Drew Estate,’ said Jonathan Drew Sann, co-founder and president of Drew Estate, in a press release. ‘While handmade in Nicaragua at La Gran Fábrica, El Tigre strikes at the filler-forward core of the Dominican Republic, with layers and layers of complex transitions. Seriously, the El Tigre blend brings Undercrown to a whole new level. It’s a cigar that’s now in my personal daily rotation. Everyone at the office can’t stop smoking them…I’m super curious to see the consumer response to this blend.’”
