WATER MAIN UPDATE
Good morning Rochester Hills,
There are no major changes this morning other than our continued reminder to keep restricting your water use where possible.
As expected, pressures dropped in the northwest portion of the City when people got ready for the work/school day. Our Booster Station, which pushes water to the north and to our Oakland Township customers has been kicking on and off due to the pressure fluctuations as it needs a certain amount of pressure to function.
We know people still need to live their lives, take showers, wash dishes, and the like. We aren’t telling you to not do those essential things. We are simply asking you to do so in moderation and to not do those extra things. Simply put, be a good neighbor. Throughout this emergency, we have seen just that and we are not surprised because this community is made up of really good people.
The City is also in the process of standing up a Water Distribution Site to assist those in the Boil Water Advisory area. We expect to have a location identified today and will post the information once it is open.
From the Great Lakes Water Authority side of things, they have been making good progress on the repair and expect the new segment of pipe to be installed within the next day. Our community members who are on a Boil Water Advisory will remain on one until the emergency is lifted. The system is too volatile that we don’t want to lift the advisory, only to have pressures drop and re-issue it.
