Hi friends,

We’ve got a fun first week of September ahead at Dinner Party—our first Dinner Party Does Takeout class, our weekly in-store tasting on Thursday, and a holiday weekend to look forward to.

DINNER PARTY DOES TAKEOUT: INDIAN & RIESLING
Friday, September 4 | 6–7:30 PM

We don’t have a full kitchen at Dinner Party, so we’re bringing the food to us.

Dinner Party Does Takeout is our new class series dedicated to one very important question: What should you drink with your favorite takeout?

For our first edition, we’re pairing two things that were practically made for each other: Indian food and Riesling. We’ll taste three distinct styles of Riesling alongside a family-style spread of butter chicken, saag paneer, Gobi Manchurian, naan, basmati rice and more.

We have very few seats left, so grab yours soon!

THURSDAY IN-STORE TASTING

Thursday, September 3 | 5–7 PM

No theme this week—just good w**e, snacks and good vibes.

Stop by anytime between 5 and 7 to taste what we’re excited about right now, discover a new bottle or two and hang out with us. As always, the tasting is casual, complimentary and open to everyone.

JOIN THE W**E CLUB

Want a little more Dinner Party in your life? Our monthly W**e Club includes three thoughtfully selected bottles centered around a new theme each month, along with tasting notes and stories about the w**es and producers.

It’s an easy way to discover something new, drink beyond your usual go-to bottles and let us do the choosing for you. Pickup is free, and nationwide shipping is available.

Indian takeout + Riesling = one of my all-time favorite pairings, so naturally we made a whole class out of it.

For our first Dinner Party Does Takeout, we’re ordering some of our Indian favorites—think butter chicken, saag paneer, gobi Manchurian, plenty of naan + basmati rice—and tasting through Riesling alongside it.

We’ll get into why Riesling works so well with spice, explore a few different styles, and hopefully convince any remaining Riesling skeptics along the way. And no, none of these w**es are going to be so sweet they give you a cavity. Promise.

Dinner Party Does Takeout:
Indian & Riesling

We don’t have a full kitchen… so we decided to bring the food to us.

Dinner Party Does Takeout is our new w**e class series built around one of our favorite things: really good takeout + the w**es that make it even better. And we’re kicking things off with one of my all-time favorite pairings: Indian food + Riesling.

On Friday, September 4th from 6–7:30pm, we’re ordering some of our favorite Indian takeout—think butter chicken, saag paneer, gobi Manchurian, lots of naan, all the basmati rice—and tasting through three different expressions of Riesling alongside it.

We’ll dive into why Riesling is such a ridiculously good match for the spice, heat and layered flavors of Indian cooking, while exploring how different this grape can look depending on where and how it’s made. And don’t worry: none of these Rieslings will be so sweet they give you a cavity. Promise.

It’ll be fun, educational, a little nerdy (in the best way), and there will be plenty of food to taste alongside the w**es.

A quick note: This is a seated, 90-minute w**e class, but it is not a full sit-down dinner. There will be plenty of takeout food but this is not a full dinner service.

There are only a few seats left, so snag yours while you still can.

And keep an eye out for more Dinner Party Does Takeout classes—we have plenty more favorite takeout + w**e combinations we think deserve their own night.

Summer’s Not Over.

We’re Drinking Rosé.

Yes, the kids may be back in school. Yes, September is around the corner. No, we are absolutely not putting the rosé away.

Around here, we firmly believe rosé is a year-round w**e—but considering it’s still very much warm outside, this Thursday feels like a particularly good excuse to pour a few of the bottles we’re loving right now.

Join us for an all-rosé in-store tasting and taste through a few different styles, places and expressions of rosé. Summer isn’t over until we say it is.

Thursday, August 27 | 5–7pm
As always, our Thursday tastings are free. Come through, taste some w**e & hang.

Summer isn’t over yet — and neither is rosé season.

Join us Thursday, August 27 from 5–7pm for an all-rosé tasting featuring a few bottles we’re absolutely still drinking (and plan to keep drinking well beyond summer).

Because rosé all day is really more of a year-round philosophy in our books.

A Few Seats Left at the Snack Table

Hey, there are still a few seats left for this Friday’s Snack Table Pantry Pairing Club: Jam Isn’t Just for Breakfast.

This Friday, August 21 from 6–7pm, we’re exploring the surprisingly versatile world of preserves—how to use them beyond your morning toast, what to pair them with, and, naturally, what to pour alongside them. Food, community, pantry, w**e—it’s all here.

And speaking of pantry parties, Dinner Party had a pretty exciting month in Richmond Magazine. Not only were we named "Best New Store" in this year’s Best & Worst issue (!!), but they also joined us at the Snack Table for a whole feature on our Pantry Pairing Club.

Their feature, "Pantry-Palooza,” gets into what these gatherings are all about: part class, part mix-and-mingle, part pairing party—all centered around looking at your pantry a little differently (and, of course, figuring out what to drink with it).

Read the Richmond Magazine feature here →(richmondmagazine.com/restaurants-in-richmond/dinner-party-the-snack-table/) (https://richmondmagazine.com/restaurants-in-richmond/dinner-party-the-snack-table/)

We’re incredibly proud to be included twice in this issue—and even more excited to keep doing what got us there.

So, come see what the pantry party is all about. Snag one of the last few seats for Friday before they’re gone.

This Week’s Tasting: Spanish W**e with Lisa from SAWM Imports

We’ve got a special guest behind the tasting table this week. Lisa, one of the owners of SAWM Imports, will be joining us with a lineup of w**es from their portfolio.

SAWM focuses on small producers, with a particular love for Spain, so expect some seriously good Spanish w**e, a chance to taste with the person who actually brings these bottles into the country, and probably a few new w**es making their way onto our shelves afterward.

And I can guarantee you one thing: there will be bubbles.

Come through, taste something new, ask Lisa all your w**e questions, and hang with us. As always, the tasting is free, casual, and open to everyone.

Hi All,

We’ve got three w**es open this Thursday from 5–7 PM, and this week’s lineup is very much a collection of things we’re excited to be drinking right now.

NEW ZEALAND SAUVIGNON BLANC
A brand-new bottle in the shop: bright, crisp, refreshing, and exactly the kind of Sauvignon Blanc we want in August.

A W**E CLUB FAVORITE RETURNS
We featured this Spanish white in the W**e Club a few months back, became completely obsessed with it, and decided it needed a permanent-ish spot back on the shelves. If you missed it in the w**e club, then today's your lucky day and now’s your chance to be introduced.

THE SICILIAN ROSATO I CAN’T STOP DRINKING
This one has officially crossed over from “w**e I really like” to “w**e I brought an entire case home for myself.” A gorgeous Sicilian rosato with plenty of freshness but enough depth and texture to carry you straight through dinner. I truly cannot get enough of it. (But seriously I brought a whole case of it home last night!)

As always, our tasting's are free — Thursday from 5–7 PM. Come hang, taste some w**e, and find something new for the fridge.

ALSO HAPPENING:

THE REBEL CHEESE SALE

Hey Richmond vegan + plant-based friends: we are currently flush with Rebel Cheese, which means it’s time for a sale.

August 12–21, buy one Rebel Cheese and get a second 30% off. Mix & match your favorites, limit one discounted item per customer, while supplies last.

Come clear out our Rebel stash so we have an excuse to order more.

THE RESERVE LIST — EDITION 003

Antiquum Farm Pinot Noir “Luxuria” 2024 Willamette Valley, Oregon

Every once in a while, I taste a w**e that reminds me exactly why I love doing this.

Last week, I had the chance to taste through the w**es of Antiquum Farm with owner, farmer, and w**emaker Stephen Hagen. I was completely blown away—not only by the w**es, but by what Stephen has created in the vineyard. I left genuinely inspired by his approach to farming, his commitment to his land, and how clearly that work translates into the glass.

Antiquum Farm is the birthplace of what Stephen calls "Grazing-Based Viticulture" a farming system he conceived and developed on the farm. Rather than treating the vineyard as simply rows of vines that need to be maintained, the entire property functions as one interconnected ecosystem. Sheep and pigs move through the vineyard first, followed by chickens, ducks, and geese, each performing a different role. The animals graze vegetation, cycle organic material back into the soil, contribute to the vineyard microbiome, and help manage insects and pests. The farm uses no fertilizers, compost, or foliar feeds-- this is WAY MORE than just working organically or biodynamically.

And this isn't simply turning some sheep loose between the vines. The animals are moved through the vineyard in carefully managed rotations every 3 to 21 days depending on rainfall, temperature, season, and the needs of the land. Stephen describes it as a “choreographed dance,” and it is incredibly hands-on and labor intensive. The goal is to continually encourage plant and root growth, soil biology, biodiversity, and ultimately a vineyard that is healthier, more resilient, and capable of expressing its site with remarkable individuality.

The result is one of the most fascinating vineyards I've encountered.

And then there is Antiquum Farm Pinot Noir “Luxuria” 2024.

Luxuria comes from the center—the heart—of Antiquum's high-elevation Pinot Noir site. It comes from two Pinot Noir clones that, over years growing alongside one another, have essentially grown together into something uniquely expressive of this particular piece of ground.

When I tasted the 2024 last week, the first thing I wrote in my notes was simply: “WOW!”

It is powerful and concentrated without feeling heavy, with incredible purity, energy, and freshness running through it. Antiquum's Pinot Noir vineyard sits around 800 feet in elevation on an unusually thin layer of Bellpine soil, and the site has this extraordinary ability to produce intensely flavored fruit while retaining striking acidity.

This is Pinot Noir that feels completely singular—and after hearing Stephen talk about the years of observation, experimentation, physical labor, and absolute commitment behind this farm, the w**e becomes even more compelling.

We can get very, very little of Luxuria 2024. Antiquum itself treats the w**e as an allocation bottling, and quantities reaching us are extremely small.

That's exactly what I want The Reserve List to be about: w**es I taste and can't stop thinking about, w**es with extraordinary stories behind them, and bottles I'm genuinely excited to introduce and put in your hands.

I'm incredibly excited to share this one—and the story of Antiquum Farm—with you.

Antiquum Farm Pinot Noir “Luxuria” 2024 — $105
Extremely limited quantities available.

The Reserve List is for the rare bottles, tiny allocations, and w**es worth making a little fuss over. Our W**e Club is the everyday side of Dinner Party—the bottles we want you opening with dinner, bringing to a friend’s house, or keeping around because Tuesday deserves good w**e, too.

Each month, we choose three bottles we genuinely love, built around a new theme and accompanied by tasting notes, producer stories, and everything you need to know about what’s in your glass—without making w**e feel like homework.

3 bottles. A new theme every month. Really good w**e.
