*LIFESAVER ALERT*

Another great job by Lancaster Police Department officers! Chief Snyder received the attached communication from Sergeant Welsh #997 recognizing the great work and lifesaving efforts from his 1st shift officers today.

"Chief,

I wanted to send you a brief note to commend the following officers for their actions regarding a reportedly suicidal female on the edge of Mount Pleasant:

Ofc. Brandon Eveland #1428
Ofc. Luke Ayers #1351
Ofc. Jim Schorr, Jr. #151
Ofc. Brian St. Clair #331
Ofc. Trent Temper #1235
Ofc. Mike Jones #1429

On 6/4/2025, dispatchers received a 911 call from a witness who stated there was a female on the top of Mount Pleasant who was threatening to jump off in an attempt of self-harm. The caller provided a clothing description, and officers responded to the scene. I arrived and launched the drone to do a search of the area, and I located a female near the edge matching the description given by the caller. Officers Eveland, Ayers, and Temper went up the trail on foot, and Officers St. Clair and Schorr went up on the UTV. Officer Jones responded in his POV (Personally Owned Vehicle) after hearing the call go out to provide HNT (Hostage Negotiation Team) support, if needed.

Officers Eveland and Ayers were the first in the area of the female. While the female was distracted by the wind and the drone, Officer Eveland walked up behind the female, unbeknownst to her, and secured her to safety. The actions of Officer Eveland, as well as the other responding officers, reflect great credit upon themselves and the Department. I have attached a link below to the (edited) video of the incident from the drone, as well as the log sheet for the call. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for your time!

Respectfully,

Sgt. Tyler Welsh"
