Hotline Outer Banks recently shared a story that’s very close to Huanchaco’s heart. A story of resilience, taking back your power, and the support of an organization that makes such a difference in our community.
For the second year in a row, we’ve dedicated 10% of all October sales to Hotline in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This cause means so much more than just giving back. Thank you to everyone who helped make it possible just by stopping in and showing some love.
Today, Jharixa Pugh is a successful Outer Banks business owner, a wife, and an advocate for others experiencing domestic violence. But just a few years ago, she wasn't sure she would survive.
One phone call to Hotline Outer Banks helped change the course of her life.
Last year, Hotline answered 791 crisis line calls and provided 781 nights of emergency shelter. Behind every number is someone facing an extraordinarily difficult moment and an advocate ready to help.
Jharixa's story is a powerful reminder of why domestic violence awareness matters and knowing where to turn for help can make all the difference.
