Happy Friday Fondren!

As always Fondren Cellars is having our weekly tasting from 2-7 PM today, free of charge and no purchase necessary.

Today we’ll be tasting Fiorellino white blend from Fratelli Ponte.

With a light nose and taste of apples and floral notes, this blend goes best with antipasti and seafood and is best served chilled.

Happy Friday Fondren! It’s time for another !

As always our tasting today will be from 2-7 PM. No cost or purchase necessary.

Today we’ll be tasting Cleto Chiarli Vecchia Modena, a brut Italian sparkling wine made from the Lambrusco di Sorbara grape.

Chiarli Vecchia Modena was the first internationally recognized Lambrusco at the World Expo in Paris in 1900, and in 2002 Cleto Chiarli reintroduced this wine to the world in its classic bottle from 1892.

The wine boasts plenty of red fruits on the nose and palate, with citrus and spice notes in the background.

Today we’ll be tasting Rieslingfreak No.44, a dry Riesling from Eden Valley, Australia.

This refined, delicate wine tastes of citrus and sweet spice and goes with a wide range of foods.

From Gundlach Bundschu, a sixth generation California vineyard from Sonoma County.

The 2022 GUNBUN Cabernet Sauvignon is the definition of wine made to share with the people you care for. This Cabernet offers tastes of tart black licorice and raspberry chocolates, balanced with earthy notes.

The 2023 Mountain Cuvée is a love letter to Bordeaux grapes- a medium-bodied red blend with notes of unsweetened cherries, raspberry preserves and boysenberry on the palette and star anise, cinnamon, and oregano on the nose.

Poggio Anima “Belial” Toscana Sangiovese

This Supertuscan offers tastes of cherry, white pepper, and a hint of cloves with soft tannins. A perfect day to day wine.

Poggio Anima “Asmodeus” Nero d’Avola

This wine offers notes of plums, leather, and pepper on the nose and black cherry and candied berries on the palate. Slightly grippier tannins, expect a bit of pucker as you drink!

Happy Friday Fondren!

Today for our tasting we will be opening a bottle of Babylonstoren Viognier 2023. Tasting time is from 2-7 PM, no purchase necessary and free of charge.

This medium bodied South African white wine is best served chilled, although we can attest that it tastes excellent at room temperature. Its delicious fruity nose and floral, rich textured taste is sure to please.

Best paired with creamy curries or light textured meats like chicken or scallop.

Tozai Typhoon Sake- A Jack-of-All-Trades Sake made to be served at any temperature. This medium dry rice wine has aromas of banana bread and a hint of spice.

Bushido Sake- meaning “Way of the Warrior” this smooth, crisp sake packs a punch of tart raspberry and watermelon rind. It’s a perfect on the go drink with Kyoto flair.

Starlight Peach Flavored Whiskey- Made with peaches grown on the Huber family farm, this is perfect union of farm grown peaches and carefully crafted whiskey that doesn’t sacrifice proof or quality.

Alvear Medium Dry Sherry- a sweetened amontillado that is never fortified and was aged for eight years before release to market. Charcuterie lovers would enjoy this as an aperitif.

Today we’ll be tasting José Maria da Fonseca’s Twin Vines Vinho Verde. This refreshing Portuguese white is sure to please with the warm spell we’ve had this week.
