Well we’re finally rested up after an up and back guerilla mission to Four Roses Bourbon for another private barrel selection. Mandy and Holly are always amazing and our yearly belly laugh sessions are as highly anticipated as the bourbon. They really do set the bar for the barrel selection guest experience.
Barry had several firsts on this trip. First barrel pick and thus, first time to hammer a b**g 😳, first time to a Buc-ees, first time listening to Phish for 7 straight hours🤪 (fine line between passenger and prisoner)
Now, to the good good. 🥃
2 major things have remained true with our 4R picks. Our choice was unanimous in a blind tasting of all 10 recipes. Our choice was also an O recipe. ✅
This barrel has all the good things; rich color, nose, balance, body, mouthfeel, complex flavor profile etc. But there’s one thing it didn’t have much of that we expected based on our analysis. Time.
Yes it’s an OESO
Yes it’s a Tier 6
Yes it’ll be north of 120prf
Yes it’s color, nose & palate are that of a bourbon that’s at least 10 year old.
Yes Four Roses starts their barrel’s eligibility for picks at 8yrs.
