With viticultural history dating back to 1747, Domaine Fonné manages 17 hectares of organic farming in the heart of the Kayersburg Valley in Alsace. 7 generations of familial heritage are now in the hands of Michel Fonné and his 3 daughters: Déborah, Sarah, and Salomé.

The estate was able to certify organic in 2022. The w**es are hand-harvested, made with indigenous yeasts, and aged in stainless steel tanks.

“With a strong family heritage, the past seven generations have been continuing Alsatian traditions while integrating contemporary approaches to w**emaking; enabling each w**e to reflect the unique characteristics of its terroir.”

Fall is slowly settling in, and in true Michigan fashion, you never know what you’re going to get. While the weather is in limbo, here are a few bottles we’re reaching for to make the transition a little easier. 🍂

Di Giovanna ‘Filia’ Nerello Mascalese (Sicily) Red cherry, spice, and a savory finish. Serve chilled.

Cume do Avia ‘Colleita 9’ Tinto (Galicia) Crunchy red fruit, herbs, and minerality.

Farm Club ‘Dabinett + Red Fleshed’ C***r (Traverse City, MI) Dry, crisp, and a little tannic.

Mersel ‘LebNat’ Red Pét-Nat (Lebanon) Juicy red fruit with a soft fizz. Serve chilled.

Monte Bernardi ‘Fiasco’ Rosso, 1L (Tuscany) Cherry, violet, and spice. A full liter for Sunday dinner.

Modales ‘Contact’ (Fennville, MI) Stone fruit, orange peel, and floral lift. Skin-contact with texture.

🍺 Their b**rs are brewed with a wild yeast strain harvested from their own property and feature local agricultural ingredients.
🍎 Their ciders are made slowly with respect for the apples. The ultimate goal: allowing the fruit to express itself.
