W**e Wednesday 🍷

This week I wanted to go with a classic Napa Cabernet — Grgich Hills Estate Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021.

If you like Cabernet that has plenty of depth and structure without being overly heavy or jammy, this is a really beautiful bottle.

Right out of the glass you get blackberry, black currant and black cherry, with a little cardamom and nutmeg underneath. On the palate there’s more dark fruit, some red berries, a touch of blood orange and dried cranberry, really nice acidity, and firm but polished tannins. The finish is long, balanced, and keeps you wanting another sip.

It’s also a really well-put-together blend — 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc — aged for 20 months in French oak.

And if you care about scores, this one earned 95 points from Decanter and 92 points from James Suckling.

This is the kind of Napa Cab I want with a good steak, short ribs, lamb, or a big dinner with friends.

Classic Napa Cabernet. Great fruit. Great structure. And just a really impressive bottle.

W**e Wednesday 🍷

Hi everyone, Alex here at Allview.

Sorry I’m a little late getting my W**e Wednesday post up a day late, but this one is definitely worth sharing.

I was out at an Italian restaurant recently and tried Argiano Non Confunditur IGT Toscana 2024 with dinner. I absolutely loved it, and it was one of those w**es that I knew right away I wanted to bring into the store.

If you like Italian reds, this is a really good one to check out. It’s a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sangiovese, and what I liked about it was how balanced it was. You get plenty of ripe dark fruit up front, a little red fruit underneath, some subtle spice, and just enough savory character to keep it interesting. The Cabernet and Merlot give it some richness and body, while the Sangiovese brings that freshness and acidity that keeps the w**e from feeling heavy.

This is the kind of bottle that just works — especially with pizza, pasta, red sauce, or something like chicken or veal parmigiana.

If you’re looking for a really solid Italian red, grab this one. I think you’ll be really happy you did.

W**e Wednesday 🍷

Hi everyone, Alex here at Allview. Sorry for the late post on W**e Wednesday.

This week’s pick is Capture Cabernet Sauvignon, and if you like a rich, smooth California Cab, this one is definitely worth checking out.

You get a lot of blackberry, cassis and black cherry, with a little dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla and clove underneath. The tannins are really silky, and the finish is smooth and lingering without being overdone. This is one of those w**es that works with just about anything — steak, burgers, lamb, mushroom risotto, cheese — or honestly, just pour a glass and enjoy it by itself.

Rich. Bold. Smooth. Really easy to like.
