The owners of From the Forty make rustic log furniture, cribbage boards,wine cadies, laser engraving and much more. From the Forty, LLC - was established in 2004. We started out making custom rustic log furniture made from white cedar that is harvested from our forty acres of woodlands. We saw almost all the wood we use with our own sawmill. Our original showroom was located in the Southern porti

on of the Door Peninsula in Wisconsin. We relocated to Egg Harbor in the fall of 2015 and are located in the Main Street Shops in building 2. We are by the entrance of Studio One Stained Glass down by Details Hair Salon. My wife, Holly Hansen, and I got into making rustic furniture through my grandfather, Harold Voeks. When my Grandfather retired he started making and selling log benches and stools that are very similar to the ones you will see in our store. He got into cedar log flagpoles, fences, and other small rustic items. My Grandpa was always into log and rustic items long before it was considered cool. Unfortunately, my Grandpa developed Lou Gehrig's disease. As his ability to work diminished, he relied on my wife and I to help him complete his orders. We continued to work with him until he was no longer able to do so. My Grandpa passed away in 2000 at the age of 81. We came up with the name From the Forty in honor of my grandfather. Ever since I can remember when he would get ready to head out the woods to go logging he would say "I am going to go get some logs From the Forty". We started our business as a hobby with the skills I had learned from my grandfather. We started selling some of the benches and stools in our front yard and at local farm/craft markets. It got to a point that we couldn't keep up with orders plus hold a full time job. I quit my full time job and started From the Forty LLC full time in 2004. My wife has also started a custom sign making business besides the furniture. You will see some of her creations here in the photo gallery. If you have something in mind for a sign drop her a note and she will be more than happy to do up some proofs for you to choose from. We here at From the Forty have a heavy heart today. Our dear friend Carol Gumtow passed away suddenly last evening. Carol has been a friend and vendor at our store for more than 20 years. Before we had our store at the Main Street Shops Carol would take care of our little giftshop we had off of our house. We used to travel the state going to craft shows with the items we make and she would man the store for us while we were gone. Carol's best selling item in our store was her Catnip Kick Sticks. She had just supplied us with a new batch a week ago. Please pray for the Gumtow family.
