You ask, "What's the inspiration behind this cigar?"

Did you know? The cigar press is an essential tool in the traditional art of cigar making, particularly in the USA where cigar craftsmanship has a rich history. The process of pressing ci**rs involves placing the filled cigar (also known as the "bundle" of to***co leaves wrapped in a binder) into a specially designed press to shape it and ensure consistency in its size and form.

In the early days of cigar making, particularly in areas like Cuba and the southeastern United States (such as in Tampa, Florida), cigar presses were often manually operated. They were used to compress the to***co inside the cigar so that it would burn evenly and maintain a good draw when smoked. The press also helped to eliminate any air pockets that might form within the cigar, improving the smoking experience.

How the Press Works:

Pressing Technique: Cigar makers would place the ci**rs into a wooden or metal mold, and the press would apply controlled pressure to compress the cigar for several hours. This step was important for shaping the cigar and ensuring that the to***co leaves were tightly packed, reducing the chances of unraveling or uneven burning.

Molds and Design: Early presses were often intricate and made from wood, sometimes with ornate carvings that reflected the craftsmanship of the time. Over the years, the design of cigar presses has evolved, but they still serve the same primary function.

Cultural Significance in the USA:

Tampa, Florida became a prominent hub for cigar manufacturing in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The city earned the nickname "Cigar City" due to its thriving cigar industry. Factories in Tampa produced millions of ci**rs, and many of these were hand-rolled by skilled artisans using traditional methods, including pressing.

In modern cigar making, while the role of manual labor has diminished with the advent of machinery, some premium ci**rs are still pressed by hand to ensure quality and authenticity. The cigar press, as a symbol of traditional craftsmanship, remains an integral part of the history and culture of cigar making in the U.S.
