Vintage Carson City, Catskill NY

Opened in 1958 by Arthur Gillette and closed in 1997 after a financial decline in Catskill regional tourism.

Featured a replicated Old West town (including the Last Chance Saloon, a bank, a schoolhouse, and a marshal's office), staged daily gunfight shows, a working train with mock robberies, and a Native American village with traditional dances and an exhibit space

RARE Travel Guide

The 1898 edition of Summer Homes and Tours was an annual promotional guidebook issued by the West Shore Railroad Company to advertise hotels, boarding houses, and scenic excursions along its route in the Hudson River Valley and New York State.

Publisher: West Shore Railroad Company (with regional editions or press notices appearing through local papers like the Nyack Evening Star and Herkimer Democrat in early 1898)

Purpose: Marketed to urban residents (primarily from New York City) looking to escape the heat, the guide detailed summer boarding locations, farmhouses, resort hotels, passenger trains, and day-trip itineraries

Format: Comprehensive annual booklets (often running roughly 280–300 pages) complete with descriptions of towns along the picturesque western bank of the Hudson River, folding maps, and advertisements for local establishments
