** WINTER STORM SNOWFALL UPDATE **
Good morning, Pennsylvania! Minimal nuance changes have occurred with this snowfall forecast this morning, but overall, a significant to major winter storm is expected for central to eastern Pennsylvania. The major difference is an increase in amounts across central Pennsylvania, where confidence is higher for an inverted trough to produce 5"+ across Happy Valley and through Lewistown/Huntingdon. I wouldn't be surprised to see localized amounts greater than 8 inches in some of the hilltops.
Snow begins to break out by Sunday morning, but the worst travel impacts will be after 4 PM on Sunday as we begin to lose daylight and see falling temperatures. The worst travel conditions will be Sunday night through Monday morning. Snow lingers into Monday afternoon before slowly tapering to snow showers in the mid-to-late afternoon. Stay tuned and stay safe! ❄️⚠️
The snow will initially be wet and heavy, which will stick to trees and power lines. Once the winds begin to pick up late Sunday night, we may see power lines and trees begin to come down, mostly across eastern Pennsylvania. If you are prone to losing power, please make sure you are prepared!
