What is Calvados?

A brandy from France, Calvados is made almost entirely of apples. The Calvados you choose depends on what you’d like to do with it - you can swap Cognac for it for a number of cocktails, like a Sazerac, Sidecar, or a Brandy Alexander.

Malbec vs Carmenere - what’s the difference?

Both heavily associated with South America, Malbec is a signature in Argentina while Carmenere has become the flagship variety of Chile.

They both come from southwestern France, but are very different grapes. In terms of expression, Malbec is much softer, with plummy, blackberry, and blueberry characteristics. Carmenere has a more herbaceous backbone, with common aromas of bell peppers, chervil, and mint.

Cool vs warm climate Chardonnay - what’s the difference?

What makes a w**e “dry?”

A dry w**e simply refers to a w**e with little to no residual sugar left after fermentation. The yeast converts the grape’s natural sugars into alcohol, and when most of that sugar is consumed, you’re left with a dry finish.
