How to Read a Wine Label (without the confusion)

No one teaches you how to read a wine label, so let’s break it down—starting with the easiest labels: Wines made in the USA!

1. Producer – Who made the wine? Right on the label.

2. Grape Variety – Most American wines tell you exactly what’s in the bottle (like Pinot Noir, Cabernet, or Chardonnay).

3. Region – Santa Barbara County? That means *all* the grapes are from there.

4. Vintage – 2023? It’s young, fresh, and fruity.

5. ABV – Higher alcohol? Usually a fuller-bodied style. Lower alcohol? Usually a lighter-bodied style! (You see what we’re getting at here)

That’s it! American wine labels give you everything upfront. Stay tuned for other regions—because not all labels make it this easy…

You walk into the store, what is the first thing you’re going to grab??? If it is one of your “usual suspects” we always say… try something new! 🍷

Whether that is a Rosé from a new region, a sparkling wine made in the same method as Champagne, or something quick and easy for your day out at the park we always have you covered

At the end of the day just try and branch out a little bit and you’ll be surprised with some of the amazing wines out there! ❤️

Here is the chance to meet the winemaker behind some of your favorite wines!

Join us this Tuesday, May 23rd from 6-8ppm at our Summit location for an incredible wine tasting experience with the winemaker himself Bill Easton!

Bill Easton, renowned as one of the original Rhône Rangers of California, founded Terre Rouge winery in 1985, bringing French Rhône Valley varietals and winemaking style to the Sierra Foothills. His adherence to terroir-driven, elegantly rustic wines reflects his California upbringing in the 60s and 70s.

With an additional label, Easton, he expertly crafts non-Rhone varietals such as Zinfandel, Cabernet, and Sauvignon Blanc, each a balanced expression of the unique local terroir.

We can not wait to see you all there!
