Bottle: Snowden Merlot Napa Valley

The most famous line in wine movie history and it almost killed a category.

Merlot didn’t (and still doesn’t) deserve the hate

Bottle: “Miòl Rosé”

We’re suckers for good bubbles. Sparkling Rosé has been a favorite category of ours for years and one of the most underrated party drinks for summer. It’s that time of year again to talk about all diff types of sparkling . More to come…

Fun facts about it: Prosecco Rosé is a crisp, pink sparkling wine from Northeast Italy. It’s made primarily from Glera grapes blended with a small amount of Pinot Nero to give it its signature color and hints of red berries.

The most expensive bottle of wine ever just sold at auction, but why????

There are two main reasons behind the high price of this bottle:

One is that DRC is already the most collectible wine on the entire planet with bottles on the secondary market going for 10s of thousands of dollars. The second reason being is that this is the last vintage before the original DRC vines had to be pulled up and replanted due to a disease that was rampant in Europe. That combo makes this one of be rarest bottles of and already uber rare bottle of wine.

Unfortunately we didn’t have the money to buy it ourselves because we would have loved to open it, but we’re hoping whoever did get it, enjoys it the way it was meant to be enjoyed… in a glass!

Comment “SCOTCH” to get our free 101 guide on finding the scotch you’ll love!

In 1996, Ardbeg was one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. And it was about to disappear. The owners shut it down, stripped it for parts, and left it to rot.

Then Glenmorangie came in and paid $11 million for it anyway. Not to change it. To own the opposite of everything they made. One brand for smooth. One brand for smoke. Same company, but serving completely different customers…

Seven years later, LVMH bought both for $500 million. They kept them completely independent on purpose.

Today Ardbeg is the most awarded smoky scotch in the world. A distillery that was left for dead ending up becoming a cult icon.

There are legends in Napa and then there is

If you aren’t familiar with Cathy Corison, she has been making wine in Napa since 1987, HER WAY! While the Napa Cabernet world was going one way, she was going the other.

There are many $100+ wines from Napa that hardly deserve that price tag, but when it comes to the Corison wine, that’s merely not the case at all. She is a legend making legendary wine year after year after year. Although not cheap, if you get the chance to try one of her wines, you’ll understand why she deserves the applause.

Comment “CAB” and we’ll tell you why this bottle was hidden in restaurants for years.

Three old friends. 7 Michelin stars between them. A winemaker with 35 perfect 100-point scores. They made a wine for their own tables and they are now FINALY letting the rest of us buy it.

KHK Napa Valley Cabernet is one of the coolest and most unique collaborations in wine we have seen in a very long time.

Can $10 wines actually be good???

Now that may be a loaded question, but we believe that they can be! Sam is doing a deep dive into 5 wines to see if they make it on the shelf. The first wine we are trying is a sub $10 sparkling wine from Italy!

Stay to the end to see what the next bottle is going to be 👀👀

This grape almost went extinct…

One Basque family kept their vines when everyone else ripped them out. Then they made a rosé that didn’t exist.

It is easily one of the most refreshing, thirst quenching, rosé’s you will drink all spring and summer long. The last thing you want is to head into the warmer months without a new favorite bottle of Rosé... and the Ameztoi Rubentis can be that bottle.

Comment “Rosé” and we’ll tell you how you can get your hands on a bottle.

This is one of the BEST stories in wine.

Borgogno. The oldest winery in Barolo. 263 years of winemaking and in 2005, they submitted a wine for Barolo certification.
BUTTT… the Italian bureaucracy rejected it.

Not because of quality but because of the color. So what did they decide to do??

They called it “No Name” and made it the exact same way every single year since 🤷🏻‍♂️

This is a $50 Langhe Nebbiolo made like a $300 Barolo. Same vineyards. Same quality. Same aging potential. Just at a fraction of the price!

It’s a middle finger to bureaucracy in bottle form (and it’s absolutely delicious)
