Think alcohol-free beer is a modern invention? History says otherwise.
In Ancient Egypt, people brewed a grain-based drink known as Zythum, a low-alcohol beverage made from barley and emmer wheat. It was consumed daily, not just for enjoyment, but because it provided hydration, nutrients, and energy in a time when clean water wasn’t always reliable.
While it wasn’t alcohol-free in the modern sense, it was light, functional, and part of everyday life, more about nourishment than intoxication.
Fast forward a few thousand years, and we’ve taken that same philosophy and refined it. Today’s alcohol-free beers deliver the refreshing taste, ritual, and satisfaction of beer, without the heavy head or next-day effects.
Some things never go out of style… we’ve just made them better.
