A moment from 40 years ago at Le Lame, the Zanobini vineyards in the historical San Casciano Val di Pesa, Toscana.
Mr. Zanobini, one of the founding brothers, with our founder, Mrs. Annelis Capelvenere and Mr. Dino Capelvenere 🇮🇹
The Zanobini brothers also founded in 1944, which still exists in the same location in Florence, 50m from the Mercato Centrale in San Lorenzo. Today, it is run by their sons, Marco and Simone and they showcase 2,500 wine labels.
If you find yourself in Florence, head to this historical family-owned enoteca for a glass of their Chianti Classico and uno Spuntino Pane Toscano. 🇮🇹🍞🍷
In this photo archive, you will see Grape Treading (“Pigiatura”), that’s not just tradition, it’s winemaking with your feet. 🍇✨
One of the earliest visual representations of this practice appears on a Roman Empire sarcophagus from the 3rd century AD.
Stomping helped break the grape skins and release the juice gently, kick-starting the flavours by influencing how much colour, tannin, and character are pulled from the skins.
In simple terms: the way the grapes are handled early on, can shape the wine’s structure, richness, and overall taste—from fresh & bright to deeper & more layered. 🍷
