JOVEN, CRIANZA, RESERVA OR GRAN RESERVA? 🍷
You’ve probably seen these names on Rioja bottles, but what do they actually mean?
As we continue our Rioja journey this October, we’re breaking down four of the region’s best-known w**e classifications — and what you can expect from each one.
🍷 JOVEN
Young, fresh and vibrant, with bright, fruity flavours.
🍷 CRIANZA
A minimum of 2 years ageing, including at least 1 year in oak, creating a little more depth and complexity.
🍷 RESERVA
A minimum of 3 years ageing, with at least 1 year in oak, resulting in a richer and more developed w**e.
🍷 GRAN RESERVA
A minimum of 5 years ageing, including at least 2 years in oak, producing a complex, elegant and beautifully mature w**e.
So, when you’re choosing your next bottle of Rioja, which one are you reaching for?
Joven • Crianza • Reserva • Gran Reserva
