It’s English Wine Week! 🍷 While Sussex is famed for its sparkling wines, Essex — and especially the Crouch Valley — is now leading the way in top-quality still wine.
Thanks to more sunshine and less rainfall than almost anywhere else in the UK, Essex offers ideal conditions for ripening grapes. The Crouch Valley’s unique microclimate and free-draining soils make it a standout for varieties like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
No wonder producers like Chapel Down and Lyme Bay are sourcing fruit from here — but it’s estates like Danbury Ridge and New Hall that are proving Essex can rival, and even surpass, the best still wines in the country.
Danbury Ridge Pinot Noir 2024
A stunning expression of English Pinot — vibrant red berries, silky tannins, and a whisper of spice. Elegance, precision, and purity in every glass. This is cool-climate Pinot at its most compelling.🍇
Newhall’s Single Estate Bacchus 2023 continues to reflect the clean, expressive style that has made Bacchus one of England’s flagship still white wines.
