A little piece of Shalfleet history… 📜

Before we open the doors to a new chapter, we thought we’d take a moment to look back. The New Inn has stood at the heart of Shalfleet since the 1740s, on the site of an earlier Church House which was sadly lost to a fire. For almost three centuries, this little corner of the village has been a place for people to meet, eat, drink, rest and share stories.

Generations of Islanders, visitors, sailors and villagers have passed through these doors and the flagstone floors, great fireplace and characterful old walls have been part of its story for generations.

Now, as we prepare to welcome you back to The New Inn, we’re incredibly conscious that we’re not starting a story from scratch. We’re adding the next chapter to one that began nearly 300 years ago.

Here’s to old memories, new ones, and many more stories to come. 🥂

A Mystery in the Village has occurred. Stick McStick has posted a comment on our Profile picture demanding freedom for the Stickmen? Quite what this means and who is responsible is not clear. Many Stickmen around the Village have now had a label attached to them saying "FREE THE STICK PEOPLE"? Including the Stick Lady at our shop? We have made many enquiries but as of yet, not got to the root of mystery. Their creator denies any knowledge of current events? Does anybody hold any information as to what's going on? 🪾🕵️‍♀️🤔

This is just to let everyone know that we have now sold out of the Eclipse glasses despite having yet another delivery today! (Most were already reserved).
So this is to save people travelling to us or making more enquiries.
Sadly we will not be getting anymore.
But we hope everyone gets a good view on Wednesday 😎🌞🌘🌙

The road closure at the bottom of Station Road, (near the school), has meant that road closed signs are in place at the Wellow turning. But access to Warlands Lane and the shop is still fine for customers travelling from Wellow, Thorely and Newbridge. 😁⛔
