Yesterday we said goodbye to Megan. đŸ„Č
Megan has worked with us for the past 18 months whilst studying at University of Nottingham but now she’s finished her degree and is heading back down south. We’re really going to miss her and we know that a lot of you will too.
Testament to how popular Megan is with our customers is that she delayed her moving day in order to work last night’s private tasting for our customer, Liz on Liz’s request.
The tasting was to mark Liz’s upcoming retirement from an NHS career spanning some 50 years. Liz was joined by her midwife colleagues to celebrate a wonderful career.
Thank you to Liz and friends for joining us for a fun-filled alfresco fizz tasting and wishing Liz all the best for her upcoming retirement and well earned rest (with plenty more time for drinking wine)!
And massive thank you to Megan for being such an awesome member of Team BB.
Megan, we wish you all the very best for whatever you do in the future - we know that whatever that is, you’ll do it brilliantly! We look forward to seeing you when you come back to graduate and any other time you’re in Notts, please! 😘
Cheers! đŸ„‚

The weather’s looking great for this Friday and what better way to spend a sunny summer’s evening than sat outside with a glass of wine and some live music?
The Elliott Lewis Duo will be joining us in the garden from 7pm to provide the soundtrack to your Friday night drinks.
Phone ahead to book your table or just turn up.
See you Friday! 😎.
Cheers! đŸ„‚ đŸŽ¶

We had a lovely afternoon in the garden yesterday for Brigitte’s Wine World Cup.
In our very own knockout tournament, USA ended up lifting the trophy. Their route to the final included a decisive win over England in the quarter-finals and then a much closer match against Germany in the semis. In quite an evenly matched final, they beat tournament favourites, France. However, with the Final winning wine being the Domaine Drouhin | Oregon Wines Dundee Hills Pinot Noir, it was as if the USA’s star striker was actually born in France - or at least had French parents. 😉
Congratulations to the USA! đŸ‡ș🇾
Unfortunately, our attempts to lead a rousing rendition of ‘Sweet Caroline’ as the tournament finale fell a bit flat but at least no-one at BB had made any bets which involved stripping down to their underpants in the event of a USA win, aka in The Rest Is Football.
Thanks to everyone who joined us for a fun afternoon of great wine, friendly competition, World Cup stats and daft facts. 😊
Cheers! đŸ„‚ ⚜

Bit of a BB round-up of the last few weeks
.
1-10: always great to go back to York where I lived for a few years in the mid-noughties, even better when one of your suppliers is holding a tasting at a Michelin Star Restaurant there. Thanks to Richard Kelley for the tasting and to Roots York for the delicious canapés. We discovered some great new wines and rediscovered some old favourites; we look forward to sharing them with you.
11: Our first alfresco tasting of 2026 was our Introduction to Wine Tasting at the end of May - hopefully we’ll be outside again this Sunday afternoon for ‘Brigitte’s Wine World Cup’. đŸ€ž
12: Some of the favourite wines from our ‘Stars of South America’ Tasting last week.
13-14: The action and the line-up from our French Favourites tasting on Wednesday evening.
15-17: A reminder that we’re displaying the wonderful artwork of Fiona MacDonald Holt as part of Sherwood Art Week this week. Come down and have a look!

Thanks to everyone who came to discuss ‘The Names’ by Florence Knapp last night.
Next book is last year’s winner, ‘Flesh’ by David Szalay. We’re meeting on Tuesday 14th July to discuss it.
We’d love you to join us. 📚

Just chatted with my mate, Steve

If I’ve told him once, I’ve told him a thousand times: ‘Don’t buy s**t wine!’

Wondering what to do in this lovely sunny weather? ☀
How about Herding Cats?
Not literally, obviously- that would be silly in this heat.
On the other hand, enjoying a nice crisp glass of our current Special, ‘Herding Cats’ GrĂŒner Veltliner in a shady corner of the BB garden, sounds like just the right level of exertion on a day like today.
Hope to see you later. 😎
Cheers! đŸ„‚
