Two spaces have become available at tomorrow afternoon’s Tokaji Wine Tasting with Monika Geynes from .
Tastings with Monika are always highly entertaining and informative and the Hungarian wines (and food) that she presents are always wildly popular. The weather is looking good too.
Tasting starts at 3pm. Tickets are £35pp. Get in touch if you’d like to join us.

ANOTHER PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT 📣
For the next five weeks, we’ll be opening at 3pm rather than 12pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

It’s been a busy week at Brigitte Bordeaux.
On Monday evening, we tasted our way from ‘Joven’ and ‘Roble’, through ‘Crianza’ to ‘Reserva’ and ‘Gran Reserva’ at our ‘Tempranillo Through the Ages’ tasting. Each different style found fans, with some favouring the younger, fruitier styles, whilst others preferred the aged character of the Gran Reservas. One of our firm favourites is the single vineyard 2016 Reserva. Aged in French oak, it is a refined and balanced Rioja with ripe black fruit, mineral notes and hints of to***co and cedar. Delicious!
We stayed in Spain on Thursday evening for our ‘Galicia Wine Tasting’. Lots of great wines with fresh, young albariños and godellos, alongside more complex lees aged and oak aged examples and a couple of great reds based around the mencia grape. Our perennial favourite Galician red, ‘Lalama’ from was again popular as was a brand new wine to Brigitte Bordeaux, the ‘Quinta Gavineira Albariño’ from , which, with its beautiful texture and flavour complexity, will now be a permanent addition to our shelves.
This weekend saw another lovely evening of live music in the garden on Friday from ‘Kokopelli’ and a private wine tasting on Saturday afternoon for a family group celebrating a hen weekend.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT 📣
Our online store really is in need of updating and improving. Half of the wines we stock aren’t listed and there is the odd mistake as this customer discovered to their dismay.
We do know that vintage matters, so please do check with us before ordering if it is a specific vintage you are after. We’d hate for you to think you were going to receive two bottles of knackered old 2019 Picpoul de Pinet and receive two young, fresh 2024 vintages instead.
We do intend to improve our online store as soon as we get chance; in the meantime, thank you for bearing with us…
And, if it’s specifically the 2029 vintage you’re after, you will also need to bear with us.

We guaranteed an abrupt end to the heatwave yesterday by putting a wine tasting on the calendar entitled ‘Summer Sparklers’. ☔️
We had to crowd inside but the fizz still flowed and a pleasant evening ensued nonetheless!
Favourite fizz was the Cuvée Excellence (well, it is our house sparkling wine for a reason). Also very popular (and also very good value) were the Espumante Bruto Rosé and the Castell d’Or Brut Cava.
Almost all of our upcoming tastings are now sold out (there are a few spaces left at our ‘Call My Bluff’ Tasting on 30/8) so watch this space for new events coming very soon.

We had a brilliant evening last Wednesday with Pascal Schielé from Alsace’s , guiding us through a top-tier selection of wines.
The wines were delicious and Pascal’s insights were fascinating. Every bottle found fans, but the star of the show was the 2019 Riesling Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergheim - elegant and expressive, it is drinking beautifully now and will only improve over the next 15 years or so.
Huge thanks to Pascal for being the perfect host and to our guests for being such an inquisitive and appreciative crowd. Thanks also to our importer, for facilitating the tasting.
