Slightly reduced opening hours this week as we open at 3pm rather than 12 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Back to normal on Friday and open as usual over the Easter weekend.

There were some great pairings at last week’s Cheese and Wine Tasting.
We kicked things off with a Rosé Crémant du Jura from paired with a Reblochon Fermier; next was a Bourgogne Chardonnay from with Dongé Brie de Meaux; that was followed by a Swiss Petite Arvine with Alp Blossom cheese; a 30-month aged Parmigiano Reggiano with a Lambrusco Grasparossa; next was the Castilla La Mancha pairing of ‘Drunken Goat’ cheese (the rind having been soaked in local red wine) with a local old vine Garnacha Tintorera from ‘Cien Y Pico’. We then paired Black Bomber Cheddar with Old Vine Zinfandel before ending with a 10-year-old White Port with Sparkenhoe Shropshire Blue and a fortified Argentinian Malbec with Irish Cashel Blue Cheese.
Lots of different favourites amongst our guests. Votes were fairly evenly split for ‘Wine of the Night’. In terms of pairings, the Spanish pairing of ‘Drunken Goat’ and ‘Cien Y Pico’ came out on top, whilst the favourite cheese was the Alp Blossom ….
We’ll be serving the Alp Blossom cheese at tomorrow’s Austrian Tasting along with some cracking wines. TWO SPACES HAVE BECOME AVAILABLE for this tasting so get in touch if you’d like to join us. (£32pp) 🇦🇹

If you need inspiration for a Mother’s Day gift, how about a voucher for one of our tasting events? We’ve just released all of our tasting events for May and June so there are plenty to choose from! Vouchers are £35.

NEW TASTING EVENTS 📣
With all of our April tastings now Sold Out, here’s what’s on the calendar so far for May and June.
The Vinho Verde Tasting and Wine and Crisp Pairing are both £32 per person. All other tastings are £35.

Some fabulous flavour combinations at last night’s Wine and Crisp Pairing Evening.
The star pairing amongst our guests was the Sumo Cat Riesling with Nice ‘n’ Spicy Nik Naks. For me, it was the Wotsits and Manzanilla that stole the show with both the crisp and the wine elevating the other to whole new heights of deliciousness! Every pairing got at least one vote for ‘Best of the Night’ with the Lot 8 Syrah and Frazzles combo proving popular and the Espumanto Bruto Rosé creating a fun, fizzy melt-in-the-mouth partnership with the humble Skip.
The favourite crisp was the Torres Black Truffle crisp whilst the Sumo Cat Riesling took the trophy for favourite wine and at only £10 a bottle (and with a scootering cat on the label), it’s no surprise that it flew off the shelves at the end of the tasting. But don’t worry, it will be back in stock very soon!
And don’t worry if you missed last night; due to popular demand, we will be revisiting the theme with our ‘Wine & Crisp Pairing: Take Two’ on Wednesday 11th June. Tickets are now on sale at £32pp.
The rest of our May and June tastings will be released in store and online in the next day or two. So, check your inbox for our newsletter; keep an eye on our website and social media or pop in to see us. 😊

Lots of fun celebrating wine in books at last night’s tasting!
Thank you to all of our guests and also to my team (Joe and Megan) for fully embracing the theme.
Congratulations to The Hungry Caterpillar for winning the fancy dress contest and good luck to all who entered our World Book Day charity prize draw.
