The 2024 Felton Road Pinot Noirs have arrived — and they are, quite simply, some of the finest wines we've had in the shop in years.

Felton Road farm biodynamically across four estate vineyards in Bannockburn, Central Otago. Everything is gravity-fed, wild-fermented, and left unfined and unfiltered. The results speak for themselves.

The 2024 Bannockburn (£265/case) is the estate blend — dark cherry, wild strawberry, a streak of earth and spice with real freshness and length. 95–96 points.

The 2024 Calvert (£285/case) is the more structured of the single vineyard wines — dark berry fruits, dried herbs, violets and a gorgeous sandy clay minerality. James Suckling scored it 97 points, and it's built to go the distance through to 2038.

The 2024 MacMuir (£325/case) is the most perfumed and seductive — strawberries, peach, slate and smoke with the most extraordinary velvety tannins. Bob Campbell MW said it has real personality and heft. He's not wrong.

So the wines have started to arrive for tomorrow's Summer Tasting. We've got a great selection from Australia which are brand new to us and have to be tasted. A classic Provence Rosé & a Spanish Albarino, and to finish we have a selection from Italy!

So what a week it's been weather wise — from bright sunshine, to rain, then massive hail storms and thunder that nearly made the windows in the shop fall out!! It's been an interesting week. Don't panic — I'm not going to get into politics — but we have been busy tasting a brand new range of wines from Australia, and they are absolutely brilliant.
