Two completely different w**es, from opposite ends of the map, with nothing much in common except that they're both brilliant and both available right now at very good prices. Sometimes that's enough.

2019 Louis Jadot Santenay Clos de Malte — Jadot have been making serious Burgundy since 1859 and the Clos de Malte is one of their most consistent w**es. The 2019 is a gorgeous vintage — red cherry, earthy depth, silky Pinot texture. Exactly the kind of bottle you want on the table as the evenings draw in. £39.99 a bottle, £195 for 6.

2024 Val de Orballo Albariño, Rías Baixas — 92+ points Robert Parker and only 8,950 bottles made. From 21-year-old vines on schist soils in O Rosal, fermented in stainless steel then aged on lees, in concrete eggs and ceramic vessels. Vibrant, saline, stony and utterly compelling. £19.99 a bottle or £99 for 6. Drink now or stash some away — this will age beautifully.

We're 10 years old this weekend! 🎂🍷

To celebrate we've opened a few bottles in the shop — come in, get out of the rain and have a glass with us. Last bank holiday of the year, kids back to school next week — you deserve it!

Summer's not over yet — but the grapes are turning golden 🍇🍷

The Supper Club menu for 17th September is now live and it's a good one. Chicken Yakitori with Crémant, Baby Gem Caesar with Albariño, Slow Cooked Beef with something Burgundy or Bordeaux shaped (we'll decide soon, promise), and Chocolate Crémeaux with Pedro Ximénez to finish. £75pp, 7:30pm, cellar tasting room.
