If you don't know the name Paul Hobbs, you should. Back in 1979 he was hand-picked for the founding winemaking team at Opus One — the Mondavi/Mouton Rothschild project that basically invented the New World 'first growth'. His own pride and joy, though? Viña Cobos, his Argentine project. 2022 Bramare Malbec, Luján de Cuyo — usual price £45.99, but right now it's 6 bottles for £199 or 12 for £360. Not sunbathing wine, but too good an offer to sit out. https://mailchi.mp/e329c8acff04/the-opus-one-winemakers-malbec-on-offer

Weekend email is out — and it's a good one! 🍷
Supper Club is next Thursday and the menu is brilliant — Burrata & Heritage Tomatoes, Slow Roasted Pork Shoulder & Sage Gnocchi, Dark Chocolate Crémeaux and more, each paired with a wine chosen by yours truly. A few tickets still available so don't hang about.
We've also got our Rosé Discovery Case — three stunning rosés from Provence, South of France and Greece, 6 bottles at 15% off. Perfect for whenever the sun decides to show up.
And don't miss this week's Vinewatch — the berries are coming along beautifully despite the very English weather!

The 2024 Felton Road Pinot Noirs have arrived — and they are, quite simply, some of the finest wines we've had in the shop in years.

Felton Road farm biodynamically across four estate vineyards in Bannockburn, Central Otago. Everything is gravity-fed, wild-fermented, and left unfined and unfiltered. The results speak for themselves.

The 2024 Bannockburn (£265/case) is the estate blend — dark cherry, wild strawberry, a streak of earth and spice with real freshness and length. 95–96 points.

The 2024 Calvert (£285/case) is the more structured of the single vineyard wines — dark berry fruits, dried herbs, violets and a gorgeous sandy clay minerality. James Suckling scored it 97 points, and it's built to go the distance through to 2038.

The 2024 MacMuir (£325/case) is the most perfumed and seductive — strawberries, peach, slate and smoke with the most extraordinary velvety tannins. Bob Campbell MW said it has real personality and heft. He's not wrong.
